Here we go again........(no roadster)

Another up on the rotisserie...................

Image

Actually started this about 5 years ago and have finally accumulated most of what I need to do the restore. Talk about a biotch trying to find parts. This is the same "rotisserie" I used on the roadster. If you click on the pic it will take you to my imageshack album with more pics. If you like a challenge, try and guess what it is before looking at the album! Clue, it is Japanese and the exhaust is a hint. :D

Good hint from the exhaust.......but that's one from each side.
Rotary would be from only one side....

Phil, you and me both! At first I was thinking what the heck would run a dual exhaust ie V6/V8 but then I looked closer...I think it's a 2-into-1 header from the side ports of a rotary. I couldn't cheat ( I tried, link doesn't take you to album) :smt003

When I click the image, it opens a 2nd window with 2 tabs. If you close the pic, the album is under it. Don't know why it does it that way. If that still does not work, I will direct link the addy. Don't want you pulling your hair out Alvin. (And Dave is right, but it's at least 10 years prior to that Brat)

Cool project! Is it getting an EJ25? Does it have a Check Engine Light?

No EJ. :( One of the 1st things I did was measure for an EJ when I got it. I would need to notch the frame rails on both sides to fit the EJ not to mention figuring out fitting a matching trans. Since it is a pretty rare car (doesn't mean it's worth anything except to a handful of guys) I don't want to cut it, especially since it's solid. The original EA63 seems to run good (or at least it did 5 years ago) so I will stay with that until a head gasket goes (hey, it's a Subaru, it's bound to happen, right? :? ) If/when that happens, I'm thinking an EA71 turbo/FI swap since anything EA81 or newer will require a different transmission and you can adapt the EA63 heads to an EA71 (Early EA63 heads are more like air colled VW heads as far as the port configuration goes whereas all the later motors have the single merged exhaust.) Already gathering parts for it.

It will be cool when done, probably better not cut up too. Marc, DownhillBill on Ebay, is into Subarus, but there is probably alot better parts available on the West Coast.

So I set a goal back in December that the car needs to have color before the end of June in order to have it debut at JCCS.

Well, now I just have to remember how it all goes back together!

Thanks. If you thought Roadster parts in general are hard to come by (or just plain expensive), try finding parts for these! I would gladly exchange costlier parts (within reason of course) for availability. I know of about 10 of these gen 1 stage 1 coupes, and of those I think only 2 or 3 are in driving condition.

Just about done. Still need to finish the hood (close) and trunk (just started), but those should get done while the car is getting the interior worked on the beginning of August.
