I am the proud new owner of a 68 Datsun 1600 I picked up over the 4th here in Colorado. I randomly came across these beautiful cars while looking on craigslist for an interesting project car and knew I had to have one. This guy is in pretty good shape physically especially considering i paid around $6k and it has around 98k miles. Mechanically it will get me places but it seems every aspect mechanically could use a bit of TLC.
I am hoping to do a semi-complete restoration with a bit of modding to get safety and usability close to modern standards while also using it as a partial DD (i dont believe in garage queens). While these little known roadsters are fantastic, the lack of information on the net about them and my lack of space in which to work is going to make this an interesting endeavor but I am up to the challenge! Hope i can come to know some fellow passionate owners who can help me with my obsession!
Welcome. I think you'll find these cars pretty forgiving, especially compared to modern cars. As SPL310 said, if it isn't in the Wiki, someone will know. An advantage to an older car is that there is nothing you can do to your car that hasn't been done before by five different people here.

I think your statement of "lack of information on the internet" was before you arrived here. There is NOTHING (OK almost nothing) that cannot be learned about these cars on this site! Welcome to the madness!
"When all else fails, force prevails!" Ummm, we're gonna need a bigger hammer here.
Welcome. This is a great site and has helped me with my 69 a bunch!! No question is a dumb one. You may get some interesting chatter but all in good fun.
One thing I'll say, which someone pointed out to me at Solvang about my 69...those are truck hubcaps.

Isn't the 1600 engine also off a 1600 truck as well?
As a related note, i've been tooling around in this car for a bit and man its fun, once i got over babying it a bit, ive been having some fun and also making a huge list of "todo's" its going to be a long trip but ever so rewarding. Glad to find a great community that still has love for this little car.
Welcome to the group. If you can't find an answer to a Roadster question here then it was never meant to be asked in the first place. The amount of knowledge on these cars located here is mind blowing!!
