What's the pro's and con's for battery in the trunk. Actually,

The more rearward weight, the more weight over the rear tires. Better for straight line acceleration. Too much weight in the back and the back end wants to slide out on corners. You can also balance the weight of the driver and spare tire by putting it on the passenger side...
Actually, the weight of the battery is fairly minimal compared to the whole picture. That said, put it on the passenger side, as forward as you can...OK, it really doen't matter.
Fumes/acid in the trunk are the #1 downside. Get a fumeless/drainless battey like an Optima. Mount it well so it doesn't bounce around. Put a disconnect on the battery so you can turn it off in an emergency. Route the lines safely (away from exhaust, driveline, etc.), they can be guarded with an equal length of heater hose slipped over.
There are many kits ~$50 that can get you 90% there...TR

TR, I just found someone that's selling
a used Optima battery, yellow top- top end. I'm still not sure if I should take a chance at a used one.
