[quote="Levallois"]The Pannasports looked good - the genuine Libres look better.

Ha! Touche

Just a reminder before this turns into another familiar thread, there is a "Wheel Pictures" topic in the Wheels and Tires Forum here:

Just got the wheels today Jon. Center caps are next on the hit parade. There are ALOT of center cap choices out there !

I went with other, Western is my choice. Turbine is the one I have. Same as Dave's but my "blades" are painted body color and I have center caps of course, sorry Dave. (the picture of Dave's car in his driveway is capless!) Looks not quite dressed!

Humm, I wonder if a new poll about what are your favorite wheels sans center caps would do well?

Ha!... you threw me a cookie so I couldn't resist. I actually have an original set of Libres set aside for #00003 but I don't have caps for mine either so if you find a place that sells them then I'd love to hear about it?

Will do - got a lead from the wheels section. AKH Vintage Wheels. Sent them an email - no prices were quoted on the website - always a bad sign.

AKH is quite proud of what they have. I found some generic center caps some years back for my Libres. AKH has both early and late style iirc. The early are for a smaller diameter center hole.

Is the 2 1/2-inch diameter the smaller or larger hole?

I believe that would be the larger of the two.

I love my 1960s 5-slot mags. They show off a hint of the painted calipers, and give it a historic, but more aggressive look than the stock steelies.

Picked 'em up from a forum member a while back, and did a restoration. Lots of sanding by hand. I decided to keep the matte look of the wheels, rather than polishing them to a shine. And I painted the backspace flat black. It adds a little contrast, and kept me from having to sand the backspace, which was pretty rough. If I ever get to drive the damn car, I also expect the painted backspace will make it easier to hide brake dust!
