Master Cylinder reservoirs-68 2000

Post by One Way »

I am having trouble locating a new reservoir for the rear brakes. This is the smaller reservoir that is mounted to the front of the master cylinder. I believe there may be an error with the carpartsmanual or a mix up with Nissan parts. I had no problem receiving the 46091-U0512
reservoir and cap, but that is the larger reservoir for the front brakes mounted at the rear of the cylinder. The parts diagram shows the opposite locations of those part #. Did I receive a part tagged wrong by Nissan or is the diagram wrong? The other reservoir has a 46090-U0512 or a 46090-10610 #. Any assistance will be much appreciated. I have found some new master cylinders from 610, 240z, models from Cardone that come with the reservoirs but can not come up with a number for reservoirs only from Cardone. I have already installed a Reman
510 cylinder from O'Reilly Auto Parts #11-1538-same as Cardone #- but these come with no reservoirs. I did not think I would have so much difficulty locating the reservoirs. Thanks, John-Lugoff, SC

John,
I have one if you would like a dirty old one, or if you want a new one, datsunparts.com has them. If you would like the one I have you can PM your address and I'll send it to you.

Thanks for the offer. I just ordered the reservoir and cap yesterday from Dean at Datsunparts.com. Hard to figure why Nissan would have the reservoir for the front brakes readily available and not the one for the front brakes. Thanks anyway, John-Lugoff, SC.

My guess is Nissan probably just eventually ran out of the one part and they're selling their original inventory on the one that's still available. There are / were a number of "matched parts" like that that Nissan ran out of one of two parts necessary for the repair and decided not to put the part out of stock back into production.

Does anyone know a company that does blow moulding that could reproduce the reservoirs? I've often thought it would be nice to get these reproduced and if the company did a good job, look at getting other parts done (like the windshield washer tanks...)
