I've been enjoying my roadster since my early 20's, bought it in Montana. Many friendships have be formed working on it and supporting clubs etc.
Moved it from Montana to TX and now AZ.
I realize many of you have provided some before and after pics I only have after and after that pics.


Here is a pic of "Barney" in it's current state. Followed by an old after pic of my roadster from 1975.

Now should I get to feeling really young again and go back to the lower racing springs?

Looks like you take alot of pride in ownership! To keep a car in such nice condition for such a long time is not easy to do. those wheels still look new!

Thanks, Barney has been part of the family longer than anything. Will remain so until I cannot get in and out or my wife makes me sell it.
Although she is searching for a trailer and truck for Solvang and Shasta next year ...

Yes, you should go lower springs, but my suggestion would be a set of what ever "comp" front springs you like, and then consider the Flexform mono-leafs for the rear with a set of lowering blocks... even with Koni shocks the ride is pretty decent and much better than my old comp springs. The Flexforms are about 8lbs, do require some minor mods to make work (grinding on the top metal plate that sandwiches the lowering block and spring so the block sits flat on the plate and not on the edge as the available blocks are longer than the plate, honing of the metal ends to slip fit the mounting bushing through, I suggest a machine shop do this) and new u-bolts (made at any spring shop). Just my opinion, but I like the lowered look.

Somehow I thought if anyone had some good advice on this it would be Greg ... Just saw Gregg Allman (Allman Brothers last night too).

Yes my old comp springs are like railroad ties, sitting in the garage! Where can one obtain these flexforms?
And of course one can do the front springs first and then add the flexforms later?

Google Flexform. There is a very long thread on 311s that discusses it all, but I would be happy to help summarize some time (not now, gotta go move!). There are alternatives, but I've been very happy so far, two yrs in. The ride is great, they seem to work well but I don't go crazy on the car much anymore. I treat them nice because I have no torque bar in the rear (broken off) and a LSD. I plan to get the bar welded back in some day...
