sr20de arrived today

Post by shant67 »

I just purchased a sr20de s15 from ebay ($1300) . looks like I will not make it to Solvang this year. The shipment arrived 5 days prior to their original promise date. I inspected the engine and trans and it truly looks like a 50k motor as described by the seller. I did a compression test and 195psi all around. This will be a interesting journey as this is my first sr20 swap plus I'm trying to keep the budget at 3k.

I need recommendations on: "at least for now"
What exhaust manifold to use ?
also where I can purchase a engine harness ? or if i should use the one they supplied? (it is in perfect condition)

Thanks in advance

I can't answer your questions, but I'll be following your build- and your budget. Did you get another car, or is it going into the white one?

Looks like fun, was a real tough decision between that motor and the busa. One thing is for sure, if my busa experiment doesn't pan out like I want, that's what going in.

Shant I am almost finished with my s15 de swap . For the exhaust manifold i used fwd sr20 , g20 . The s15 harness is difficult not a lot of info on pinouts . Wiring specialty's is making my harness, yury can hook you up with there pro harness .I have some 1 3/8 tube for water neck left over ,pm me u can have it . I only have a few thing and im ready to fire up . Being on east coast my sources are limited so i did almost every thing my self keep cost down and not cutting cutting corner on a safe and reliable swap ,Im it it for about 4800 bucks .It was alot of work and i had a fun doing it .If you have access to a plasma cutter it definitely will make it easier . Good luck with your swap .

Shant,

Congrats on your engine-- we can provide you with an already converted (ie. EGR port welded up) FWD SR20DE exhaust manifold-- though with your wrecking yard connections, you can easily find one yourself!

I do have laser cut exhaust flanges that I can sell you-- which will make fabricating the down pipe easier!

Talk to you soon,

I couldn't find a build thread anywhere. Did it get started? It would be nice to see how close it stays to budget. I assume this is engine only and no brake, rearend, or suspension upgrades.

I had originally planed to spend 3k on my swap but I fell 1.5k short. here is my sr20 swap in a nut shell

engine trans and ecu $1300
wiring harness $500
engine mounts $350
engine jig $150
alternator bracket $250
alternator $65
exhaust manifold $75
civic aluminum radiator and fan shroud $150
fuel tank mods and welding $500
battery relocation $100
fuel line and tools to complete the job $100
also add $300 for miscellaneous parts

I still need to purchase
mass air flow sensor +- $200
drive shaft +-$300

this is not including many hours of labor
