Leaf spring U-bolts

Post by zippy67roadster »

I have found that the leaf spring u-bolts from a Jeep CJ2A, 3A, or 3B are a good replacement. The stock part # is 909222. They are about 1 inch longer than stock but this doesn't effect how they mount or work and they are the same dimensions and thickness as the stock ones. It you want you can cut this extra length off. I have attached a picture of the original next to the replacement.

The least expensive I could find was at http://www.jeep4x4center.com/u-bolt-fro ... 09222.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for $8/each. Less through rockauto?

Are they the same thread? Are the early ones SAE and later U bolts metric or are they all the same?

Glad you were able to find something as I was not when looking to replace mine for the mono-leaf set up. However, any spring shop can make up what ever length etc you want in about 10 minutes if you bring them one of yours.

Thread doesn't matter as they come with the nuts and washers. They just need to be the correct dimensions and diameter.

Understood, but I'm still curious for my education.

Both are SEA but the new parts thread pitch is quite a bit more coarse than the stock. I will look into get the exact pitch of both for you.
