Guys,

The resto shop that did the body work has a great set of progression photos up. I thought you might enjoy seeing the reassembly and painting process. The car is driveable now too, I will try to get some finished pics up soon.

Very nice, very nice. So, what did it cost to have 'em make the body so pretty?

Cost was about $8K to media blast, replace floors, and one front inner fender, plus prime and paint with base coat clear coat. You can see the glazing it took to get it completely straight, but in the end, it is completely straight, not a wave in the side.

Alvin, springs were put on after these pics and were a decided improvement. Thanks for the info on them, much appreciated.

Guys I am in Kentucky, and you should see the comments that I get. Even the old SCCA guys around here don't remember these cars. Then out of the blue, some 15 year old will come up and ask if it is a SPL or SRL.

These are still hands down the best old car I have owned.

Who knows, with 6 gears going forward, you guys might see me at Shasta next year....

And...not to wax sentimental here, but the best damn community of owners I have come across. You guys do a great job of supporting each other, and I have seen little of the "my car is better than your car" on here. You guys should be proud of that, many of the other old cars I own or have owned have online and local communities that make you sick with all of the in-fighting.

Nice job, excellent planning and execution. And BTW, my car is NOT better than your car. But it gives me something to shoot for!
Congrats man.

And I second the comment on this board; great bunch of roadster-heads.

Awesome looking car! It might have been said already but I seem to look over stuff... how were the motor/tranny mounts done?

The front motor mounts are a pad TIG'ed to the frame with a gusset welded in under it for support. See pic at:

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_im ... 3_full.jpg

Tranny mount was through the crossmember with a high density rubber isolator underneath, and another on top. We then drilled out the aluminum tailhousing mounts for the factory miata mount, and inserted steel helicoils and ran a bolt all the way through the crossmember and isolators and then threaded into the tranny. It has really worked well so far. Let me know if I can be of further help.
