Hello to all! From New user

Post by evanwert »

Dear All,

I am a new user to the site. I have a 1968 1600 Roadster. It has had some engine work and now uses 2000 carbs, 2000 crank, and head has been modified. Very quick little car.

Best, Evan Wert

Welcome to the site. Your comment about the 2000 crank in your 1600, brings up a question for the resident experts. I used modified, domed 1600 pistons as "high compression" pistons in my 68 2000 SOLO II car. I know the U20 and H20 engines are almost the same, except for pushrod vs overhead cam. Can I put a U20 crank in the '67 1600 I have (to be restored) and end up with a 2 liter pushrod engine for my 1600? I know the 1600 piston skirts had to be trimmed to clear the 2000 crank weights. Can I use either set of rods? That would be soooo cool. Can't believe I never thought of this before. And, I already have a spare U20 short block to use for parts. Now I want to get to work on the 1600 !!! So much to do, so little time!

No, wait, is that the "stroker" I see referred to here? DUH !!!
