Accusump Assembly

Post by TexasStig »

I'm trying to re-assemble JH Bahn's 1966 race car. I purchased it with the engine removed, and without any pictures it's like trying to complete a jigsaw puzzle without having the box. The tech section on the Accusump explains the conceptual assembly fairly well, but I can't figure how (or even where) the components were mounted. If anyone has pictures of a engine bay with it installed, please share. Google image search wasn't very helpful.

I'd post some pics of what I have, but don't have access to the car at the moment.

Thanks!
Just the tip.

That example isn't really set up optimally. You should plumb the accumsump with a tee so it goes directly into the main gallery (input side of your adapter block) and have a one way check valve on the output side. The set up illustrated in the red car above has the accusump pushing oil through the filter and oil cooler before it enters the engine.

P.S. Glad to hear you have JH's old car and you are putting it back on track. Nice car.

This is my Z car but should give you the idea. The line from the firewall to the red fitting on the adapter block is the Accusump line from the passenger compartment. The blue fitting on the adapter block is the check valve on the return from the oil cooler. Any drop in oil pressure and the Accusump dumps directly into the main oil gallery and no other part of the oiling system. This car has an external oil feed off the oil pump to the cooler but your roadster will have that line coming off the adapter block on the side of the block. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys! I need to rummage through the boxes of parts, as I might be missing the block off adapter. I'll post our solution... might need to get creative.
Just the tip.
