Bummer on the accident. Happy to hear you are okay...

Today, I extracted my roadster from a shop that made no progress working on my car. Ownerinformed me he was shutting down the business. She is now resting comfortably with two other red roadsters (well, triumphs...) closer to home, so I can keep a close eye on the beast.

Yeah, that is dirt and paint/body dust covering the car...

From the files of you are not as clean as you think.
What have I gotten myself into? :D
Any recommendations now that it's too late??
New surround from Stan. Gauges out for refreshing. Time polishing/cleaning. Need to decide how I want to to refinish the dash panel. Clean up sloppy interior bits and pieces. Seats out for new padding. Actually "some" padding....
Warming up the phone lines from my house to the vendors....

Many, many spots that appear to be missing screws/bolts/something. I need to figure out what all should be there when I put it back together.

I just received the dash I bought for my 68 2000. It has a glove box, twisties, 2 good vents, fuse panel, the right gauges, light switch, glove box door, wiring etx. Pretty much everything I need for the 68
It has a couple cracks but I hane a new cap.
Ill be cleaning hiiup, making sure the wiring is in good shape and then I can put the dash in the car.
I am excited!

Was finally able to find this post and see the pic... For some reason my work computer blocks certain picture formats or something... So, a belated UGH! Sorry to see this, poor car looks like it's frowning. Glad everyone's ok, and I hope you're back on the road before too long. I assume no engine etc damage... That would just really really suck after all this work.

It's cute, isn't it? In a 'grumpy cat' kind of way..lol

We pulled it out enough to get the hood off, and pulled out the fenders enough to get them off the tires when turning.. I replaced a headlight, and it can drive. It does not currently have a hood, but on the other hand, it now runs so cool, the heater barely worked the other night when it was in the 50s..

I hadn't run the roadster much lately, as we just moved to a new house a couple months ago, and there is lots to be done there. Yesterday in the process of cleaning out the garage, I moved the cars out of the garage, including the roadster. I started it up, let it warm up for a couple minutes, backed it out of the garage, and let it run for a couple more minutes.

While moving some stuff around, I smell something. "that's not normal..."
Check under the hood and oil is burning on top of the exhaust manifold. The silicone/rubber gasket on the valve cover failed, and a fair amount of oil came out.

Shouldn't be a huge deal, as I ordered a cork gasket to replace it. But I noticed that the rubber/silicone gasket was really distorted now, and far too big to fit on the valve cover. Anyone else have an experience like this with the rubber/silicone gasket? It's a new gasket (maybe 200 miles on it). I even stuck it in the freezer for an hour to see if it would shrink back down. It didn't help.

Bought a new car cover since my previous one from O'Reilly's sucked. Felt like it was made of paper and was ripping after several months.

Anyhow, found a new Intro-Tech car cover on craigslist. Custom made for a BMW Z3 but surprisingly fits the roadster perfect.

So since all the understructure is destroyed and torn, I think this hood is a goner..

So i decided to play with it a bit..lol

Since I have had my SP310 on the road, I have grown to love that raw induction sound :)
I couldn't hear it when I was driving my '73 240Z since it was a hardtop but the Roadster sounds GREAT!

Changed the spark plugs to BP6EY and the engine has found a few more horses.
For some reason I originally had BP4ES, far too hot
Going to do an economy check on the current tank of fuel just for interest sake.

That crash is a total bummer Mike. Hope you get it back to where it was. It is the most photogenic car in Southern California (and the most impressive engine). We can't have it be away from the shutter too long.
Best of luck!

Decided why not.. Chance to film with the hood off..

Glowing headers are too cool, even with the wind cooling them..
