Transmissions 4 speed and 5 Speed
I know this may have been answered before, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know if a 4 speed or a 5 speed from newer roadsters will fit a 1963 SPL-310? Is there any modifications that need to be done?

Ok. it looks like it may be more trouble than it is worth. I have not yet driven my 1963 roadster and have just heard and read stories about how bad the original for speed without the synchro gear is. I found a good deal on a four-speed out of the 67 roadster. I was hoping I could put it in and just change out the driveshaft.

non synchro 1st will inhibit a 30 degree turn from speed. One could probably swing a 45 at 20 mph in second gear
unless you are ted. wimp.

I have not had a problem AT ALL driving the original 4 speed in my 1500. I don't get the fuss.

That's good to hear. Thanks for the info. I will just keep it as is. I don't plan to race it. It will be more of just a city cruiser.
