Z Car Garage is restoring the #49 IMSA Z driven by Joel Anderson for the 2014 Monterey Historics!
I interviewed Joel and there's plenty of pics of the restoration underway, enjoy! http://www.zcarblog.com/2014/06/23/even ... racer.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I think the best part of the restoration is that that 99% of the parts are original to the car as it was raced 30 years ago. The wheels, fuel cell and windows are the pretty much the only new parts!
This weekend I got to brush the aluminum door panels and fuel cell.

I was proud of these relatively low-bar, but rewarding projects!
I even got to use a grinder for the first time. Fun!
Wait until we get the vinyl numbers and stickers on her!
Check out our report from the historic races at Laguna Seca. Lots of roadsters, in-car video and a mega gallery from the paddock. Enjoy! http://www.zcarblog.com/2014/09/01/even ... eport.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Joel Anderson passed away 3/29. He was a talented graphic artist and Datsun race car driver. He inspired us all by racing as a privateer against factory-backed teams/cars..and winning!
I wrote a tribute to Joel on zcarblog. His spirit lives on through his #49 IMSA GTU Z and his famous C-Production Z currently being resurrected at Z Car Garage. RIP Joel!
