Wow, both cars are looking great Dan! I especially like the Sora blue car - it makes me pine for the fjords!

Finished putting on the new rear KYB rebate shocks last night. The old front shocks however are too big to drop down out of the hole. At least the 3 little bolts came off fairly easy without breaking.
66 stroker, almost done.

I haven't done much to my car lately except drive it, but a friend contacted me and got this from some vendor for 5 cents.

Some time ago I won a pair of leather driving gloves on ebay.
The seller asked me if I was just a collector or a Datsun enthusiast.
I answered the latter and I scored a heap of pen and pencils and two stickers, all genuine Datsun branded items

Obviously she wanted them to go to a good home

Nissanman, just trying to help.

Woo Hoo, congrats! Yes, they do sound different from the SUs don't they! My carbs are louder than my exhaust! Not sure what you will run for air filters, but I'm relatively happy with the Ram Air foam socks I have on there temporaily until I make a new airbox. Be prepared for loud induction noise however!only in a datsun wrote:After two long weeks of agony, Finally got it running well with its new/ old weber 40 DCOE. Man those things sound nice!!
Did you do a different cam? If not, consider that as the next step, though not as easy as a U20. Fun stuff! Did you use a wideband O2 Air/fuel meter to set up the jetting? Again, if not, they are a great addition for sure.

Can I say here that I hate the front suspension? Popped it loose at the upper ball joint. Dealing with parts that haven't been apart since who knows when. Rust, dirt, grease, oh joy.Curtis wrote:Finished putting on the new rear KYB rebate shocks last night. The old front shocks however are too big to drop down out of the hole. Thanks for the advice greg672000,
I really like the induction sound. For the filters, I fitted mesh inside of the horns and you can't even tell they are there. I used color tune to dial in the carbs. I have thought of using the wide band o2 unit I have sitting around collecting dust.

Upper? Way easier (and safer) to remove the lower to replace a shock absorber.Curtis wrote:Can I say here that I hate the the front suspension? Popped it loose at the upper ball joint. Imho the suspension in is what makes these cars desirable. Its certainly not the wiring!!

Upper much easier to get at. Took the caliper loose. The bottom shock stud is bent and will have to be cut off. Guess you know what I'll be doing tonight.pebbles wrote:Upper? Suspension may be desirable but taking it apart when it's old and crusty is not. I don't like greasy and dirty so I have a tendency to do a bunch of cleaning whenever I do this stuff. A bit of the while I'm at syndrome.
Wiring for me was a simple choice, build my own and upgrade.

Both shocks have now been removed and I'm blasting, cleaning and painting.

Well I have one side done and purdy up. Part way through the other side now.Curtis wrote:Both shocks have now been removed and I'm blasting, cleaning and painting.
Went back to get a tool at the driver's side rear wheel and what do I find but a pool of fluid. Seems I now have a leaky 13/16" wheel cylinder. Forget trying to get a kit for that. Even Napa is obsoleting the 3/4" kit they sold. Was going to rebuild the 2 3/4 ones I have and stick them on.
Nissan still sells the 3/4 cylinder but no longer sells the kit. Trying to find a substitute kit from another model that will work.

Try looking for RAYBESTOS Part # WK1065
http://311s.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f= ... pa#p180713
I think the Nissan 620 trucks also had 3/4" cylinders, but with a different geometry.
I saw pic that had all the pieces but also an extra seal and the interchange numbers were mapped.
I was thinking of ordering one to see if it would work. Perhaps you'll beat me to it.
Try Dorman # 96858 or Centric # 144.42001
