1st time Shasta meet for newbie....

Well the fam and I decided to do a real last minute trip to Shasta to check out the infamous meet and their followers. We arrived late Friday night to check into a motel in Dunsmuir (10 miles from the meet location). Since we had the kids, and also, since I recently found a couple of exhaust leaks in my header, we decided to leave the roadster at home and take the family van. The next morning, we checked out and headed to downtown where the meet was suppose to take place. Upon our arrival, we saw that the main street was closed for an entire block to allow ample room of displaying the beautiful rides. Here are a few pics I took:

Wanted to meet the owner of this one and ask what was the paint code he used for this particular red. If anyone can help me out, that would be appreciated:




While checking out each ride, I was studying how people's engine layout compared to what I have at home for reference. I noticed a couple of things that I'd like to change on mine.

First was the alternator bracket to relocate to the passenger side. Would like to know where I can get this. Some had an motor lift bracket added on the same bolt where the alternator bracket was installed.

Second, was a metal fuel line that connects from the fuel pump to the carbs that was fed in front of the valve cover. My current set up is a rubber hose that overhangs the same area and is zip-tied to the small radiator hose. Would like to clean up the look with a metal tube version as it looks stock. Also, would like to know where I can purchase this. The following is a pic example of what I'm talking about:




Technically, this was our first trip to Mt. Shasta as well as attend a big roadster show/meet like this. The warm welcoming feeling we received when we mingled with fellow owners at the show, along with seeing the beautiful cars up close in person was priceless. Though the kids got bored after the first 15 minutes, my wife and I will never forget it! The friendly openness and advice amongst fellow owners was a breath of fresh air. As it was a stark contrast to the attitudes at the city by the bay that I unfortunately work in everyday.

It was also a pleasure to watch and learn from the carb-master, Keith, tune and give advice to fellow owners who were getting a one and one free consultation and carb adjustment to those who needed it. Kinda wished I had my ride there for him to check out. Cindy and I would like to make it a point to make the Shasta meet next year with the roadster, sans the kids. This also gives me a goal to get the car in decent running and looking condition by then. Hope to see you all again next year. It was fun. Cheers, rudy

I was glad to see you and your family at the show! Maybe Next time you can bring the roadster and stay longer. That Blue one is David Premos car, he was one of the guys running the show. I'm not too knowledgeable on 1600's but maybe the metal fuel line is an early car thing. (pre 68) And I think that is the stock alternator bracket just put on the passenger side. (I haven't swapped sides with me alternator yet so I could be wrong)

For moving the alternator to the passenger side, you'll need the 2 brackets from a '65-'67.5.
Ross (sports imports) likely has some.

The pic above shows the brackets and the stock fuel line piping.

hi John...thank you for the specs on the color. The red on your car is beautiful. There was another owner who wanted to know the owner to find out the color too as she described it as the 'perfect red' for this car. And I agreed. Hope to see you and your car next Shasta meet. rudy

Yeah, it was great seeing you there, man. I wasn't so sure if you were still going as you mentioned it briefly last time we met. Wanted to send you an e-mail but got caught up with stuff and before you know it the meet was the following morning. Yeah, I'll be researching in acquiring the fuel pipe and alternator bracket in the near future. Just need to replace my chirping smog plugs with Dean's, order a replacement header for my leaky stock, get my leaky pinion seal fixed at the differential, flush coolant and replace thermostat and temp sender. BTW, I recently re-painted my stock rims and replaced my flat-spotted tires and it made a whole lot of difference on the road! No more shaking on the freeway anymore. Actually got her going to 80 on the fwy! Hope to see you on the next meet or run, whichever comes first. rudy

hey Mike! It's good to hear from you again. It was nice meeting you at the ZONC show too. Your roadster outshined everyone there. Thanks for the 411 on the parts. Definitely gives me a head start on tracking these things down. Hope to meet with you again other locals in the next run or meet. rudy
