Then it looks beautiful, when everything is in the same color match.
I find it a great job what you did to the interior of this car.

Kelly,
Why don't you send a few shots to Nissan to let them know this is what they could do to get back in the game.....

Okay, here are some current outdoor pics of where we are right now...keep in mind it's not done, but I'm very proud of where it is right now. Sorry Alvin, I thought the pic of gauges was closer, they are Autometers from the vintage line.

Re: Esther (68Fairlady4me)
the paint looks really really nice! Good on you for integrating the shoulder mount into the bar too. I'm curious about the windshield trim, it doesn't look factory, yet profile looks same?

What a classy beautiful car. A complete transformation! I gotta say I cannot believe how well your "modern" interior meshes so seamlessly with a 40 some year old car!

Re: Esther (68Fairlady4me)
The windshield trim if you are talking exterior is off the car originally and is stock. If you are talking about the padding on the pillars and bow, that is the piece from Dean's site with extra padding on it to modern it up a bit, I wanted it thicker.
On the exterior everything is stock with the exception of the emblems. I used the side emblems off of a Sunny model because I preferred the curves of the font, thought it was a little more girly and classy. Then the Fairlady emblem on the back of course. I didn't change the exterior much, just had the jack holes filled under the doors and the shaved the antennea. Otherwise left all the lines the same.
I love the rollbar too. I have the screens that go in the rollbar as well to slow down the wind. I haven't put them in yet.
The paint is nice. He still has some wet sanding to do on it and polishing yet. So it will shine up even more.
I was reading about the bikini top the other day and am considering having one made for my car too. The tonneau cover gets made Monday.

Re: Esther (68Fairlady4me)
In under 200 miles

it's looking like my engine is toast. Have to talk to the machine shop Monday, see if it's salvageable, but it's not looking good. But we rebuilt the engine, it's already bored out, and the pics don't show it well but the walls are all scratched up deeply.
So now the question will be what to do next...rebuild? find another u20? SR20det? I kept the engine because it was numbers matching. This car just won't get done.

Re: Esther (68Fairlady4me)
Such a bummer, my condolences on the motor. Where there is a will, there is a way! As SPL310 suggests, a sleeve is a great way to keep it numbers matching original- but other options are available, most of which you mention. Me, I'd replace the U20 short term to get up and running and either just store the block for future reference or start restoration of the original block.

Re: Esther (68Fairlady4me)
Oh man.. I hope you can find a way around this. My R16 becoming a 3 cylinder was a large part of the push that lead to my swap. The fast way out would probably be to rebuild or replace the u20.. Anyway, good luck with finding a plan, and executing it.

Re: Esther (68Fairlady4me)
Going with a sleeve would be cheapest, quickest, and still keep it original. Since you're going to need to replace both valves in that cyl. I would consider replacing all of them, if the damage was caused by the valve breaking and not the piston breaking the valve. mike
