Esther at a sleep over at friends house, finalizing the engine and wiring before going to interior shop

Also, spouse managed to find a 68 1600 to purchase last week. We trailered it home and our friend got it running in a manner of a couple hours. It's already a driver. These cars are simply amazing.

It's painful sometimes that progress is slow. I should have my car in the next week or so. There will always be more to do, but here is the interior, finally almost done. I went to inspect it the other night and took this photo

Here is a slightly better angle for the dash

They are finishing up the remainder of the center console area, putting windshield in, etc, so just about done, finally.

Didn't make Solvang, again, with a car, although I was there, but let's say all good things are worth waiting for?

I've often imagined doing something along those lines, but your example outshines anything I had conceived. WOW!!

Great to see the interior debacle is taken care of, and a year later it's nearly done. Looks amazing!

I borrowed the car for the weekend to take it to my Datsun club meeting. Comical. We drive it home fine, put it in the garage and takes photos, stare at it etc. Next morning, start it up to show neighbor...sounds wonderful. Run an errand and come back to drive it up to a mechanic friends house to do some minor adjustments, it won't start. But pops like heck. I'm not mechanical at all and he can't tell me what to look for over the phone. So the car sits all day. I go to my Datsun meeting car-less, AGAIN. Next day my friend can come over. In a matter of minutes he discovers my timing is all off. He resolves it, takes the car for a quick drive, comes back, lets me drive. Get around the corner, it dies. We push it back. The rotor is cracked. So we steal the rotor from our other car. Back on the road. This time I get around 2 corners and it dies. He pops the hood, re aligns the rotor and baby's it back to garage. This rotor is cracked too. That's when we all see it. The new battery set up has been placed to close to the distributor and when the engine gets moving, the cap hit the battery and breaks the rotor. So off to the store to buy a new cap, rotor and battery tie down. Now it runs fine.

Lots left to do but here are some photos. I'm super proud of it overall. I'm beginning to hope again that I might make Solvang next year, but not quite ready to commit :).

Of coarse the interior doesn't look like a roadster anymore, but I like the round interior with the beautiful seats and the steering wheel in the same shape as the dash and the great door panels. :smt023
The only point I don't like is the white color in the steering wheel, when it was silver it look in my opinion better.

There is no white in my interior. All chrome/silver/aluminum matching colors. I too would not be okay with white.

I did try to keep in the Nissan look, if you notice the top of the dash where the gauges are have a 350z type curves...all the silver buttons are the original instruments, all same functionality, just new locations.

I know the modern look isn't for everyone. I wanted to make it contemporary interior with all the lines of the awesome exterior. Personally, for me, it looks like what the car could look like now, if it were still being produced.

I appreciate all the nice comments. Again, I know converting the interior this way is not for everyone.

I thought the steering wheel was white at the inside, what kind of color is that?

it's just the way the flash made it look. Steering wheel is black and metal (silver). It's an aluminum metal there, not white. In person it looks really nice. I got the shift knob, ebrake handle and steering wheel all to match. Making a uniformed look was important to me. It's a Momo EVO steering wheel I believe is the name. Very nice.
