In my ongoing effort to chase down why the engine wants to run at 210 I pulled the head to examine it. I am suspicious after looking at it that the deck needs to be surfaced. So I pulled the engine to do a couple other things as well.

Engine will go off to the machinist to be checked and balanced.

Curtis,
What made you suspicious when you looked at the parts? Did you do some measurements?

Some previous pitting in the surface and that when I use the scraper there are high and low spots where the gasket does not clean off. Also the head gasket on the block side has some discoloration that makes me think there was some leakage.

Since the head had been resurfaced it cleans off fine.

Just another excuse for while I'm at it syndrome.

Just ordered a set of ARP head studs for my R16. I have a small amount of oil weeping out of the passenger rear corner of the head gasket. I'm hoping the increased torque of the studs will close the gap.

I replace my windshield for another one, this one is much better, but still has a small crack in the corner to corner, but barely noticeable. (it was during transport cracked).

Finished assembly on front brake conversion to the Volvo Altima. Ended up having to run new brake lines from the box to both front assemblies because old fittings were rusted and cross thread but absolutely NO leaks at this point. Just need to bleed them then TEST DRIVE!!!

You got a high windscreen, that looks good, and the sit great.
For a low windscreen I find them to high, that was the reason I took the type with the low head rest.
