Went with my hubby, brother and my stephson.
It was a race against the clock, and some where laughing, but we had our Fairlady ready for take off to Norway.
After a project of 1 year and 9 months a well deserved vacation.
Every second weekend in june the Nissan dealer in Kristiansand has a Datsun/Nissan (also PMC and Infinity) meeting.
We have been there a few times and always had a great time.Not only the meeting, people, cars, friends also the wonderful nature and roads makes it a awesome country for travelling. (if you like driving hairpin roads..)

What a great road trip, just like you said lovely scenery and friends along the way, thanks for posting the photos and congratulations on getting your fabulous roadster back on the road, it must be a treat to drive.

Great that your there in Norway, did you have any problems on this road-trip, Erica?

No problems, only some wind coming inside (taped it) and the differential makes noise (used earplugs), travelled at continus speed of 110km/h. The fuel consumption was 1:14 (!).

Saturday was the meeting at the Nissan dealer in Kristiansand.
About 50 cars in all kinds of condition.

It was a very nice day, in the afternoon I won the price for "best of show", chosen by the public!
And in the evening at the BBQ I won more prices;
From the PMC/Datsun club: "Longest driving distance" with a Datsun and "best Datsun sportscar"
Nissan Sporting: "2nd price best enginebay" and "best veteran car"

My brother had some luck too! He won the price of longest driving distance with a Nissan (won a toolset) and he was 4th with the best engine room (won a nice T-shirt).

So, now where to put all those trofees.....

to all of you: I am very proud and honored that everybody likes the car and admire our work. The roadster is a delicious ride!!! And this trip is the cherry on the cake!

14th had the treff at the Nissan dealer

15th sunday had a rest at the camping, had a visit from some friends and spent the day with reading and the last upload for some pictures

16th monday we left from Kristiansand area and went to Flekkefjord and up to Tronasen, (between Moi and Flekkefjord on the 467) an old route which was a daily (post) road in the 1940's, later used in a rally and now a days only open in the summertime, one way route and forbidden for campers (they should forbid them on more roads). Once in the 5 year the locals drive this route with old cars, bit scary because you can't go up at once but have to wait in the line...which can give some problems to some engines. Back to Flekkefjord where we took the "44" which is a really nice along the coast road. From Ana-Sira the road is really curvy and a joy to ride with a car. (my brother took some videos, if I have them I will update it here later). You will pass Helleren,

2 old Viking houses under a large cliff, so the houses never got wet and still are there after hundred years. After Helleren we went further on up that mountain, now on the top you go thru a tunnel, in the old days you go around that top...on to Hauge, Egersund, Vikesa and the '503' up to Glopedalen/Gloppura.

Went back to Vikesa to fill up the fuel and drove to Anne-Rita and Trond, who also own a Fairlady 1600 high windshield. At there farm we stayed before the night. Henk and Trond tryed to tune some carburettors and ignition while my brother, Nils (neighbour of Trond) tryed to repair the rattle which came from his 300ZX....Another guy with his Laurel tryed to help find a bold. (A bold from the caliper was missing... :shock: ) Another guy with a MG-B dropped by so we had a little car meeting. After some dinner from the grill we replaced the bolt for a hollow pin which we slided in with a hammer...to keep the caliper in place (it worked well). (It was the least damage and fasted solution, we replace the hollow pipe for the correct bold and replace the sliding pen, because that thread is damaged by the hollow pin). AFter some tuning on Trond's car the raodster was still to rich and because it was about 23:00 we gave it a rest and went inside for a drink and some guitar play. It became a short night...

17th We left from Vikesa to Lauvvik than you can take the side seeing boat Fjord1 to Lysebotn. It goes thru the Lysefjorden and takes about 2-3 hours. The boat floats by Preikestolen a very famous platform which can be reached after a few hours climbing,

also there is Kjerag (at the otherside of the Fjord),

a rock which fell in a cliff, also reachable by walking after a few hours. There are some para jumpers from Kjerag. When we got at Lysebotn, we tried to be the first off the boat but that wasn't happening. A few cars where in front of us, but at least the touring buses where behind us. This road up from Lysebotn

is really one big zig-zag with a tunnel....We did it in a Datsun, first gear and maximum rpm, she run a bit hot when we where at the top but cooled off quickly, after that it is just one road with still snow in top off the mountains and followed that road until region Valle. (only one road).

from Valle we went more up to Dalen with the 45 and after Dalen we went back down over the 355, which wasn't a good choice because the road was very bad (exspecially with competition springs....) It was better to take the 38 and than 41 which is new asfalt, but because we saw that last year I wanted to try another route... We went to Amli and than to the area Vegarshei where we 'booked' the "farm" from our friend Jon Ivar (who ownes also a 1600 Fairlady). He was already there and together had some diner and had a bit earlier night rest than the day before...

That's living! Beautiful and nice roadster. Also liking the burnt red color of that Bluebird 411 pic. That would be a great color for roadster as well.

We did a canoe and boattrip across the lake.
I read a few books (finally time for it)
the 20th we went home with the fjordline in Kristiansand

the colorline is the other operator we went the other times with colorline which is maybe more luxury, but the basic seats from Fjordline are better than the basic seats from colorline, at the fjordline you can nap in your seat at the colorline they wake you up....nasty if you drove 8 hours or have to drive 8 hours...

Than an continiously 8 hours drive home

Norway has a "highway" the call it the E18 on some pieces it is 2ways and you may drice 110km/h....you can't travel fast in Norway, they always speak in hours driving not distances in km's...in winter it will take more time...
