Suggestions for route home from Shasta to Los Angeles

Thinking of going to Shasta this year - first time.
Likely to hammer up 5 and then wander home.

Any suggestions for fun route home to LA??

Head over to the coast and head down the 101. You can do it at the Sf bay area or go down the 5 to the redding area, head over to Weaverville. it winds you up into the trinity alps, keep going and you'll end up on the coast. Beautiful country if you have the time for a longer trip.

We're flying out of San Francisco, so if you want to follow along with us part of the way and cut south down toward Holister and take Route 1, PCH but it takes a while.

I would stop a Romans on the way up to Shasta.

It might be HOT on the way back......I suggest going east through Lassen on
44 to 89 around Lake Tohoe down to 4 or one of the other roads coming from the 89-395.
Then cross over the State to Monterey and head down the 1.
