Take you Roadster to Work Day

Nope, I am used to driving Roadsters in Houston - you have great visibility and have a better fighting chance of dodging (get it?) one of those behemoths.

It's getting near the end of the best driving weather here so I'm glad I got 132 back on the road in time. It's funny, people were actually leaving me notes on the car in the parking lot about how nice the car is. One lady even wrote "thanks for letting me sit in your car." Of course I'd done no such thing!

Depending on your domestic situation, this could create anxiety.

Back in college or soon after, I once "allowed" a friend to sit in my 311. Her perfume remained on the steering wheel (actually scented hand lotion), and several long hairs ended up on the rug behind the driver's seat.

These bits of evidence were brought to my attention unexpectedly.

So, just to let you know, James, we are all behind you here, have heard your story, and agree with you that it's the G-d's Honest Truth.

It never bothered me allowing people to do this... Until they sat on the back panel and left butt dents! Just make sure they don't hop on your fenders or do a Dukes of Hazzard move across the hood!

I drove the Roadster to work today. I took an out-of-town colleague for an after work cruise and we stopped at the Alpine Inn for a burger and beer.

It turns out Alvin and his family were stalking me and used the opportunity to train his daughter how to hot wire my car. The tonneau cover offered little security against this roving band of Roadster thieves. Beware and install those hidden ignition cut off switches as soon as possible.

There is no hiding from Alvin and his Roadster radar.

My old 620 PU key would fit my buddies /'73 240Z door and ignition... was always fun to move his car a few parking stalls away, just to mess with him...

After fixing my fuel delivery issues (small fuel line from bowl to carb body kinked) I took the Roadster to work three days last week. It was great!! Took the back roads instead of 101. What a blast!! In fact I have no idea why I'm sitting here writing this message and not driving it now!!!

I drove my car to work today. Going into town was enjoyable and uneventful at 6:00 am.



Going home @ 4:00 pm in traffic was a different story. I found the fourth traffic lane on a three lane bridge @ 50mph when a semi jackknifed right in front of me. Surprising how much more alert and aware of dynamic traffic you are behind the "death spear"!

I know that, but experiencing a head on-dead stop at 50mph, does it matter if it is a long pointy spear or short blunt spear the outcome will be the same. The collapsing portion of my steering column won't make a significant difference.

My point is in traffic I drive considerably more defensively and empathize with bikers.
