I bought this roadster a few years ago.
Finally some time to start with it.
I sandblasted the front suspension parts and have them powder coated.
Hope to get them back in a week.
The engine is almost finished.
It has 88 bore and 86 stroke with 1:12 compression ratio.
Isky camshaft with 13.5 lift.
Going to use throttle body's.
The machine shop did a great job with preparing the head for the pistions.
They CNC cut the cambers to get each one the same volume.
Great tools those computers, see the test head.
That head had cracks in the inlet, see pics so we could use it to see if the program worked.

How much did the headwork cost, who did the work. And i know you are overseas, but would they do more of them?

Re: Half baked Datsun race project!
Some progress on my 2.1l U20 engine.
Not as nice looking as Mike's engine but it's not bad.
Intake manifold ready, 5 degrees more up.
Teeth made on the crank pulley for the crank sensor.
I think I'm going to have the throttle bodies in black wrinkle finish to just like the cam cover.
I don't like them red on this engine.
Also want to make a replacement for the distributor base.
I think I will cut it under the rpm gauge gear.
Then make a top plate were I can attach the oil line to lubricate the jack shaft gear.

Re: Half baked Datsun race project!
Cool! Nice work on the crank pully. I had mine machined to accept an existing trigger wheel for a V8 Ford. My trigger is mounted to a plate that bolts to the two black headed bolts on the front cover, shown in your pic. It's worked well so far in case you're looking for a mounting spot. Also, for my distributor, I mounted the coil pack to it (also uses a Ford set up, not sure what you're running, I'm using megajolt, and I see you're going FI, so are your using megasquirt?). My friend cut and machined a stock distributor body, created a mounting plate for the coil pack, and modified the distributor shaft so as to retain the stock tach gear etc set up. I would love to post pics but I've never overcome Windows 8. I think I could send you a pic to an email address using my cell phone, yes? You can pm me an email and I'll try it next time I'm home.
The engine looks really great!

Great system and company.
They develope, produce and sell there own system.
I know the owner for more then 25 years and always a pleasure to work with.
Last time I was there they had this engine (audi tt rs) on the dyno.

Would be nice if my roadster could shift like this.
