Toy roadster worth more than the actual car?

Post by datsun65 »

Okay...

There is an early Datsun Roadster Diapet toy car (small tin car) on ebay...Item ends in ~2 hours.

Price is now $565 !!!

Now, there are some folks on this board who have purchased WHOLE Roadsters, for less than the price of this toy tin car! Well, at least the toy car doesn't have mechancial issues :)

Its also a franken roadster! It has the front clip for a JDM 1600, but has rear trunk lid hinges like a 65 1500. Wide whites too.

All kidding aside, I don't get this. This car - although an early example in nice shape - is not nearly the car that the Ebbro is. I almost choked on the price of the Ebbro!! There is NO WAY that I would blow $610 on a toy that size.

On the subject of toy cars, if anyone has a spare red Ebbro and wants to trade, contact me off list. I have a red car, but a silver Ebbro. It just ain't right!!

No Kidding....That toy ($610) just sold for $10 more than the cost of my first Datsun Roadster, a 1970 1600!!!

I still have in the closet a super rare, original Datsun Silvia Remote Control model. It was rumored to be the first transistor, remote controlled car model made. Even has its original box!

Now...it is as rare as the Diapet car, but at least 15 times the size...Plus its got transistors and stuff...

Hopefully, if I sell on ebay...I can pay off my mortgage with the proceeds
