Well someone realized a nice return on investment:

I checked my DVR tonight. The car was televised during the Mecum coverage on the Esquire network this afternoon. It got a less than 2 mins of screen time. The reserve was off at the 1st price posting of $7750. There appeared to be 2 or 3 bidders.

Some of the commentary:
"I don't know if we have ever seen one of these on our program."

"They called it Fairlady, I believe, in Japan."
"It was actually just called the 2000 here. They had a 1600 cc version and a 2000. This was kind of the top dog."

"Kind of a Japanese version of an MGB. The Japanese were very much into copying in that era."
"They actually built dog gone good cars. These are nice."

"And they were cheaper than those MGs"

So a Roadster did get some TV time today, providing visibility to a broader audience. Unfortunately the misconception of it being an MG copy has been propagated.
