30th Anniversary 2014 Mt Shasta Roadster Meet Website
Mount Shasta 2014 registration is now open, with the help of many people, Steve Allen, Pete and Faye Benham, David Siebel, Denise Bosch and my wife Karen. Here is the link http://mtshastaroadstermeet.311s.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to the new and improved 2014 Mt Shasta website.
This will be the 30th anniversary of the meet and we are looking forward to putting on a memorable event. Last year was our first year having the event on the city streets of Mount Shasta. This was received well as it was downtown and accessible to the Mt Shasta merchants, restaurants, and stores. In addition to the roadsters last year, we invited 1973 and older Datsuns and will do so this year. The show is about the roadsters but we would like to recognize the other great Datsun’s of that era. We moved the date of the meet this year, as the weekend before our traditional date, Mt Shasta closes the streets for the 4th of July Holiday. We were requested by the City of Mt. Shasta to move the show back one week to give the local vendors a break. So the new date for the meet will be July 17th, 18th &19th.
The new website includes event information, lodging information, roadster classes, registration, registered participants, event sponsors, past events gallery, and the 2013 award winners. In the registration tab you now have the option to register and pay by PayPal. There also is a registration form that you can download, print and mail your check if you prefer.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the 30th anniversary of the oldest and longest running Datsun Roadster Meet!
Cheers!

It's been quite a few years since I've been to Shasta. Where do most roadster owners stay?

Ken we put a number of links on the web page and of them the most popular places with the roadster crowd are the Swiss Holiday Lodge, Finlandia Motel & Lodge and the A-1 Choice Inn. Some people are going to try the Strawberry Valley Inn which used to be the old meeting place, as it's under new management. Hope this helps and we look forward to seeing you at the meet.

Should be a great gathering... And my car should make it again finally!!! Thanks to Ross and all the others over the years for putting this on, and thanks Dave and company for picking up the mantel and doing a great job last year. Looking forward to it!

Do you know when the management shift happened? I slept there last year.. It could be a pretty nice place depending on which side of the street you end up on..david premo wrote:Some people are going to try the Strawberry Valley Inn which used to be the old meeting place, as it's under new management.

I will be driving through Shasta today on my way to the southern tip of the Mexican Baja with buddy John Vandenberg. Hope to get some winter pics of the mountain.

You are not really driving unless you're in a roadster. Pics Please.sports imports wrote:I will be driving through Shasta today on my way to the southern tip of the Mexican Baja with buddy John Vandenberg. Hope to get some winter pics of the mountain.

Normally, this time of year the mountain is covered with snow. This year's precipitation is far below normal so there is virtually no snow on Mt Shasta or Lassen. Hopefully by the time you return things will change, but the long term forecast is dry thru at least mid January. Have a safe tripsports imports wrote:I will be driving through Shasta today on my way to the southern tip of the Mexican Baja with buddy John Vandenberg. Hope to get some winter pics of the mountain.

Re: 30th Anniversary 2014 Mt Shasta Roadster Meet Website
Better make your My Shasta meet accommodations soon.
Mt Shasta is a Summer Tourist spot and rooms are expensive and fill up early.
The Swiss Holiday Inn, the unofficial meet headquarters, was filled the day after the 2013 meet!.
Some budget alternatives to the other motels in town are.
1. FREE camping in the National Forest on the side of Mt Shasta.
I have camped the last 2 years. NO PROBLEM. A great twisty paved road about 12 miles up to a cool 6500'.
Pitch your tent, leave it up and come back each night.
2. Camp grounds around town.
3. WEED. Rooms are much cheaper in the fine town of WEED 8 miles N on the freeway.
I have a room there for myself and Richard (no camping this year, Richard is a wimp!) for $68 a night including all taxes & fees.
If you want a room get it soon as you can always cancel, with no fee, up to 2 days before.
Get there Thursday night for the Social meet & greet. I run the early Friday drive and the mid day poker run events.
You should not miss them and I will be taking names of those not participating.
See you at Shasta!!
Ted.

Ross sent this Shasta pic this morning. Snowbirds on the road at 6:30 am. Impressive!
Very little snow too.

Re: 30th Anniversary 2014 Mt Shasta Roadster Meet Website
Seriously? Only 12 registrations so far? The rumor mill said 2 folks are driving in from the East Coast.
....or do the registrations start coming in after Solvang?

I heard the same rumor. 2 really old geezors from Watkins Glen. Hope you all stop and say Hi! Maybe help me out of the car. We are not as young as Scott (fish).

Re: 30th Anniversary 2014 Mt Shasta Roadster Meet Website
Okay, I am seriously going to try to make the trip for my first ever Shasta Meet. (Thanks Ross)
The middle of July will be just about the right time for me to take a top down, long distance cruise. I can feel the mental therapy now.
...a 24 hour non-stop cruise! Take that trailer queens!
90% decided.
10% pending no issues with the roadster from spring shakedown run in a couple of weeks (if winter would ever end).

As I can't make Solvang (work unfortunately interferes), and I really want a copy of Ted's 1964 manual, I hope to make it up to Shasta.
