I know that early cars have a sensor/bulb, and it is located on both u20 and R16 on the passenger side, in between the oil filter and fuel pump.

Hi Joaquin,
I think I know what you talking about, it look like a mush room and in gold color, right? How that device be connected to oil pressure line? Is there a flex line or some like the brake line type to be connecting to the oil pressure line?

thanks

Someone may have tried to adapt a sender for the oil pressure.

The later cars have a flex line that comes from the block to a hard line on the frame that then goes through the firewall to the gauge.

The flex line is pricey from the vendors. I looked into having a new one made by a hydraulics shop, but they insisted it was a brake line and wouldn't touch it for legal reasons.

I also looked into using adapters and a stainless line from Summit racing, but couldn't figure out one of the connections. Ended up using a nice one that came with a recent parts car.

OK guys, we all in the same page here, that great… that is exactly what I’m talking about that flex line. If anyone have picture on this that would be great.
When I bought my car the motor were already apart from the car, I don’t know if this flex line came with it or not.
I don’t know what to ask when I go the parts store because I don’t have anything for reference.
Any idea what this flex line will cost at the vender?
Anybody have one lying around and wants to sell it?

thanks

If you have an engine out of an early car, you just pull off the oil pressure sending unit (the gold can thing with the screw in the middle) and screw the line into it. I have one in a box of junk out in the garage I think. I will try to see.

Sid,

Thanks for the feedback, I was confused because I have a 67 1600 sitting outside of my garage and I have been using this 67 as a reference to put my motor back together on my 69.
On my 67 I did saw a black wire attached to the center of the gold can or mushroom so that really confused me there. Your feedback really explained all. Thanks

Question
Is there any interchange part I can use for this?

I don't know of an interchange part number. If you have the old line, you should be able to find a hose company to get one remade. The vendors have them, but I am told that they are pricey. I have a used one that I would not trust very far, but the fittings can be reused.
