Roadster advice

Post by Q-Roadster »

Hello and newbie to the board. Love the forum and have picked up tons of info here. Was hoping to get some advice from a few of the old hands, owned a black 67 Roadster back in the day, and after a recent tour in the middle east (and a clear psych eval), have decided to indulge my desire for another 67 once again, was hoping I could get some advice on pricing once I get back to the Bay Area. Done a fair amount of window shopping on Craigslist/ EBay for price points, was hoping to get a little input to see if I'm on target...

Drivers that need cosmetic work $2-3K, rust free vehicles that have been well maintained, roughly $5-6K, and show car/vehicles with modified engines KA22 etc upwards of $10K plus, do these figures sound about right? And of course the follow on, any good places to look outside of the regular posting sites, was hoping to get my hands on a decent rust free driver that has either had a somewhat recent rebuild or swapped motor (primarily for parts availability purposes), and Alving, love your car, if you ever plan a firesale, let me know :D

Thanks in advance!

If you include the interior in your cartegory of "cosmetic work" I'd say your price ranges are probably pretty realistic. Are you thinking of another 1600? I'd expect the 2-liters to be a bit more expensive, particularly of the 1967.5 variety.
Welcome and you are definitely relocating to the center of the roadster world, so you should have no trouble finding the right car locally.

Also try Mike Young at Datsun Sports, he usually has few cars around he's trying to sell. You'll find him in the vendor section to the left.

Q-Roadster,

Welcome to the Roadster world.

Hey, on Sunday (tommorrow) there is a car show in Golden Gate Park, in which a few bay area owners will be attending. Its called Jimmy's old Car show.

Also, next weekend on Sunday, Oct 15 there is a roadster/510/zcar get together at DGR Datsunworks in Santa Clara..I'll post more details on the board later this weekend.

Check out the Bay Area Datsun Roadster Owner's Club website for details.
