RAFTING down the Lower South Fork of the American River outside of Sacramento is a blast.

Dave_Car_Guy wrote:Easy call for me… Shasta! (I am almost exactly equidistant from the two events - 4 hours either way) In addition to the great event at Shasta, I will be able to do some fly fishing on the Upper Sacramento River near Dunsmuir about 10 minutes away,

then drive 50 minutes to fish near Burney Falls,

then go hunt the stealth trout in Hat Creek at my favorite ranch,

finishing off with a drift boat trip down the lower Sacramento River for some monster Rainbows!

The Roadster will fit plenty of fishing gear!
That' seals the deal for me. I'll be at both. In Solvang with a wine glass in my hand and then in Shasta with fly rod in my hand. Best of both worlds. Just hope I don't try a roll cast with my wine glass!! :smt003

Oh oh! Dave, I have not gone fishing in a few years and would very much consider a run to the river, even just for the scenery. Fly fishing is the only fishing I've ever been consistent with, but it has been a while. Please look me and my wife Tammy up when you get there. I'll be in a black 67 2000 from WA, staying at the Mt Shasta inn and lodge across from the Strawberry Valley Inn. We're coming in on thursday.

I haven't registered yet but we are planning to make the trip from WI.
Visiting friends along the way. Thinking highway 20. Maybe a quick blast through Yellowstone while we're in the vicinity. Who knows??
We'll post route info closer to the event so we can meet along the way.

I'd be up for some fishing as a side activity as well.

Done deal! BTW, for anyone who has not fly-fished the area, the people to contact up there are at The Fly Shop in Redding, CA ( http://www.theflyshop.com). They know all the water around Mt. Shasta!

Well I wish I had read this thread a few weeks ago! Maybe I could have done Shasta. But it's Slovang for this roadster newbie, and wife ( my wife has little if any interest in the roadsters  but the wineries and shopping...strike that...the wineries seem to draw her interest  ), you never know my wife just might become interested in the roadsters.....naaaa...wishful thinking
As I havent got a running roadster yet and am I the planning stages for a swap, I'm looking to have fun driving Shasta in the future! But for now I just want to meet the people and talk roadster.

I really look forward to meeting many of you and learning from you as well....and maybe just maybe some of the ladies there can help my wife see just how cool these little cars really are!

Fishing would be awesome, I can bring my fly rod if you can help me un-learn casting the wrong way :D Maybe a Zebco, worm and bobber instead.

Take the truck and camper, being there is what counts, not how you get there.

Of course, I do NOT agree.
For a Roadster Meet, getting there in your ROADSTER (with the top down, Alvin) is half (or more) the fun!
