We are committing to Shasta this year. Solvang may be a last minute flyin decision.sports imports wrote:There will be many many many cars at Shasta this year and I am predicting over 100. In its first year, there were 30 cars, half of which came from Canada. I am hoping to see more than 20 Canadian cars at Shasta 30 this year. If I were to pick only one, it would be Shasta!!!!!

Re: Solvang or Shasta??
This is an EASY choice.
SHASTA.
Been to Shasta 6 times from the mid 90's and Solvang twice.
For a more fun, laid back, low key event, Shasta is the better.
More activities, (evening socials, 3 driving events on Friday) and time to mingle with your fellow 311s folks.
Great scenery and roads to drive. Ice cream made by Keith!
Shasta is rebuilding as Ross said and it will be the Premier Datsun Roadster Meet once again as it was in the 90s.
I will be waiting there for Linda and the other S CA folks as it is about the same distance for them
as us BC/Seattle folks from the North.
Linda, NO excuses this year!
If you budget is tight, you can camp free in the National Forest up the side of Mt. Shasta.
I like Solvang and I will be there in 2014.
But if you must choose, I recommend Shasta.
Ted.

Re: Solvang or Shasta??
If you've never been to Shasta, the 30th anniversary would be a great one to go to. I've been to both, and Shasta was amazing. I had extra fun hanging out at the Swiss lodge meeting everyone and felt part of the group. It's not about the show, more of the meeting roadster people. There's always a group of people doing something fun to meet up with. Both are great shows, but very different. Best way to decide is to go to both events one year and see what style you prefer.

Re: Solvang or Shasta??
It's shasta for me. Solvang was great too but I prefer Shasta.
I spoke with Mr. Premo on Saturday and he is hoping for 100 cars. It'll be a pretty wild event if a 100 cars show up.

Re: Solvang or Shasta??
I am hoping to do both next year-- Solvang is 1000 miles south, but Shasta is an easy 300 mile run down I-5.
Like others have said, it is hard to beat the scenery of the Mt. Shasta area-- but we always love going down to Solvang too...

It's like Britney or Christina....
The good news is you can enjoy both. That's my plan and I can't wait to see you all there.

It's the 5 days of driving after that on-ramp that gets a bit tedious.RCMike wrote:Gee Dave, you put some gas in them and turn the key.. Look for the interstate onramp with the W on it….

Dave,
Driving a Roadster is "a bit tedious"!!.
What would "Fish" say?
SHAME SHAME.
Also at 5 days you are driving too slow.

Re: Solvang or Shasta??
Since I'm already registered for Solvang, and it's only 35 minutes down the road
I am really thinking about going to Shasta also. Been to Shasta many times before but never for an event like this could be. It can get a little warm there but that's what cold beer is for!!
And being that I am a Roadster Newby the more Roadster Nuts I can meet the better!!

Re: Solvang or Shasta??
I'm thinking of taking a week or so going out and the same coming back. Trailering it out so we can enjoy a few days with friends along the way. Stop and unload when we want. Get a chance to drive in the mountains etc. Will probably take highways and avoid interstates for as much as possible.
Probably wimping out a bit, but it is what it is.
Maybe I can collect parts to bring home that way??
