Short shifter for SR20DET

Post by denniswagnerusa »

Has anyone converted to a short throw shifter on their SR20DET? Does it make a difference in non-race applications? Is it easy to install? There appears to be a range of prices for short shifters from different manufacturers. Does anyone have a brand they like?

It's AWESOME and I absolutely love it
Solid as hell and you literally "click" off shifts, the 45% reduction in throw is real.

It is completely bolt-on, others are/not.

I didn't use the supplied shift knob instead I have a JDM Z32 knob:

Curious.. Do you install that in the car or do you need access to the trans to get to it?

Mike, You could install it in the car, top plate and all, if you were too punch out the 5speed filler plate on the tunnel. But I've never done it. The shifter hole in the 67.5 tunnel is long with plenty of access.
Alvin thanks for posting on that particular shifter. I like it.
