Stay home Dad ( that is a full time job ) with your budget, you will have to be Superman to pull this one off. You may very well be Superman I wish you all the luck in the world. Keep looking your Roadster is out there.

So here's an update.

The 66 has been taken off the market after I showed concern about the rust issues....I wasn't going to get away as a resto but maybe as a parts car but definitely not for $1000. :?

As for the 70...more picts came to me and the body looks good. Seemingly little rust! So I am going to look at it on Sat; I'll let you guys know what happens.

But I feel that there's a 67.5 or earlier out there for me

To Rodster: I'm no Superman, just Mr. Mom....with a wrench! :D

To ReddTrain: the only thing I see in Garland is a super over priced 70 SRL with no dash...is that the one you are referring to?

Thanks again guys for helping me think clearly. :)

So I went and looked at the 70 SPL. Its been out side for a couple of years and has had the engine pulled. The body is in good nick except for three smaller dents drivers side. But here's the goods; very little rust almost none considering its been sitting outside for so long. the interior is fade and dirty but not torn and there is no way of looking at the ground from inside the car :D Frame looked good with the normal dirt and surface rust. The headlight chrome is almost perfect  Overall not bad as a starter for SR20 swap. This is the best condition body I have seen yet. And at $600 not a bad deal...and if worse comes to worse it would make a great parts car. SOOOOOOOOO.........

I bought a roadster....I bought a roadster :smt003 (from my wife point of view :smt009)

I'll post picts when I can get the car here which will be in a week

Very cool, good price and worse case it's for practice.
Maybe now if you find a rusty runner, you can combine the 2

Congratulations! Good outlook on the use as a parts car if nothing else. Most Roadster owners just buy their parts car Roadster 2nd!

congrats on your buy - welcome to the club - now the fun part of really stripping it down to see what you have got. - price is certainly right.
You KNOW you have found a GREAT resource for info/tips and perhaps even help.

Nah. It hasn't been on CL in a while, so I'm assuming it's gone. It was a blue 67 1600. It looked like a pretty good deal, but I'm not in a position to purchase another.

Congrats on the purchase!

Some good in expensive cars pop up for sale in mid winter when the holiday credit card bills arrive. Have cash, be ready and be patient.
