Hello From NE Illinois...might as well say wisconsin!

Post by Mike.reid »

I just wanted to say hello to everyone! I recently became the proud owner of a '68 1600 roadster. I saw one and immediately fell in love. I had been looking for 240z's and when this popped up I had to grab it. I NEVER even considered a convertible before this baby came along.

anyways I'm grateful for a site like this because it will be my first project car and I'm gonna need some help starting....Now. I will post my questions on the tech discussion.

thanks ahead of time. I will post a pic soon

3 images for your enjoyment. The car was painted by the previous owner. ITs a Camero green from the late 90s early 2000's.

I'm in antioch Il, which is just south of the border to wisconsin. I plan on taking this bad boy out tomorrow after I clean out the fuel system.

Welcome to the fun house Mike! Looks like a good car. I like the chromy green.
There should be screens in the carb body inlets. Check those for debris.
There are also two small rubber lines on the bottom of each carb that fill with sediment. Clean those as well.
Have some fun with the car, drive it as much as possible!

Thanks tim. Unfortunately last nights first ride was terrible. Feels like the tranny migut be shot. Soooo if you are parting out those 2000 do u still have a 5 speed available? And how much. That being said, what about the motor too haha. I also think the brakes are shot and the parking brake is locked uo it seems. We used it when doing the fuel tank and oil change so that may have locked them up. Im not sure the previous owner ever used it. I think he just kept it in gear.

Anyways I'd love to meet up and compare cars, do a drive a meet whatever. Keep me in the loop.

PM me your email address and Dan and I will add you to the Dairyland Datsun list so you will know when we set runs up, etc.

Mike,
Glad to hear there's another roadster owner so close by. Sorry to hear you're already having troubles. We've got one more Datsun meet-up this year, so if you're up to meeting the other local Datsun owners, I'll get you the info. These guys love to talk Datsuns and can probably help you out with your questions. Plus you get to see some running examples to either answer your questions or inspire you. We'll be meeting at BlackHawk Raceway in October for the last vintage race of the year. We're just meeting up to watch the event and its a nice fall drive getting there. I'm sure Tim or myself will post the details on this soon. You should try & make this event even if you're not driving your roadster, its worth the drive.
