Do keep in mind that, while the engine has not run in several years, the oil and all the acids have been there the whole time and potentially eating away at the bearings. You may be money ahead to pull the pan and check a rod and main bearing. Better than spinning one later and needing an engine or crank. Bearings are cheap. U20 or R16?

hmm, good advice. oh, and I was presumptuous, the really right way is to remove the dizzy, get an old screwdriver bit and chuck it up in a cordless drill and raise the oil pressure, then....

You should have seen the bearings that came out of my engine the first time I did it. They were pitted, not scratched... Pitted like Swiss cheese. You could hear the rods knock when testing it... Rattle when you'd rev it, then quiet when rpms were held, then rattle on deceleration. I learned a lot on that engine.
