Baby gets new shoes....

Post by notoptoy »

Today I got rid of 38 years worth of old tires!
My Roadster had the 22 year old Pirelli's in the back that were on the car when I got it. It also had some 16 year old Dunlops on the front - probably only had about 500 miles on them :-( I really liked those.
So I got some new Kuhmos - WOW what a difference in ride quality - it's like I installed an air suspension compared to the old. it is so smooth it's disconcerting. I am not sure how sticky these are but the improvement in ride quality is astounding. Here are some in process shots, I'll add the final product shots later.

Congrats. I bought the Michelins that are on my roadster on May 10, 1976. It's running again, but I've only driven it to the gas station because of the tires. I just pulled them off yesterday to get the wheels sandblasted and powder coated next week, still haven't decided on the color. And then, new shoes too.

Which Kumhos, and what size did you get?
New tires make it impossible to not want to drive :)

Indeed, I'll get details but first enjoyment...
And yes, driving it is a joy. Already at 150 miles in two days of running around.

Nice! Looking good! Glad you got to replace the tires :D How's the steering effort?

Steering effort is mildly easier - but still it's an early Roadster, with a smaller than stock steering wheel - so you still have to muscle it around!
