That's about or better than 26-28 MPG, seems right on.Alex P wrote:I filled up before and after the drive. It seems i'm getting about 260-280 miles on a tank (1600, 4 speed). About right?

Dropped in the rebuilt U20 Solex motor into my freshly painted 69. Still need to run the electrical and fuel and add the interior bits.

Why didn't you paint the engine bay?

I painted it flat black, mostly by hand. I was lazy and didn't take all the hydraulic lines and master cylinders off... Also, the PO undercoated everything on this car. I scraped most of it off the engine bay (again by hand) but left a lot of gashes in the paint and I didn't feel like finishing sanding the engine bay...call me lazy!

Unless you didn't paint it black behind the grille. If it's body color, Sid's driving up there to work up a Number Six on you.spl310 wrote:No, pragmatic sounds more like it. I don't blame you Joe!

Cool man. Is this your first Mikuni/Solex engine, or is that what you're used to? Soon that wonderful and intoxicating sound will come from those carbs... Boweupp! Boweupp!! I like this addiction...jrusso07 wrote:Dropped in the rebuilt U20 Solex motor into my freshly painted 69. Still need to run the electrical and fuel and add the interior bits.

Certainly better than an XQJ-37 Nuclear Powered Pan-Sexual Roto-Plooker.

The Roto-Plookers are better on gas though.

Removed some chrome hood pins installed by the PO. Mounted an awesome grill badge given to me by Brian from Sin City Roadsters.

Looks good Joe.........will you have it ready for the Glen?
I also put my U20 together that's been sitting in pieces in my garage for the past year and a half and dropped it in the car. Been road testing and jetting the carbs for the trip up to the Glen.
Hey Sid you could appreciate this........this was the engine that sat at Marks house for 10 years, then at Daves house for another 2-3 years. It finally been taken apart and put back together and is running.

I thought Dave was putting that in the 1500?
Guess not. When did you pick it up from him? I saw that at his place 3 years ago!
