removed the grey "coating" on the dashtrim and windshield frame
A professional paintstripper did the job

We had some coolant tubes laying around.
We cut them in pieces and turned up with this fitment
The pipe has a watertempsensor from a 300ZX Z31, which we soldered in. On the pipe we welded on bothsides edges. So the tubes will stay behind the edges with a clamp.
In the tubes in top of the radiator is also a small pipe to connect the tubes.

Whent to the scrapyard and bought some airtubes from a Saab (i think 900) and a Ford Sierra (1990), to puzzle with the airintake and MAF.

And we found a correct belt for the pulleys: Contitech 4 pk 830

I am enjoying your build. I am also in shock of the amount of Bondo that you have uncovered on that car, simply amazing to me.

licenseplate light; sprayed, new rubbers and rechromed
Someone an idea for a new rubber at the back for the wire? (Golden tip was a rubber from a rear brake cylinder, or a rubber from Moss Europe)

Image

Image

put some foam to prevend noise, scratces on my new paint and foam under the flaps to close better (not sure if it original was there but looks okay)

heaterbox, radiator, heaterfan and airflaps; renewed rubbers, sprayed and lubricated

@notoptoy: I hope that this `American` restoration with `professional paint job` not something regular is in USA...
There must be one guy which did some body work on the old school way, that looks okay but the rest... I am glad the bondo did not covered a lot of rust and other holes...There are a few but we can manage until now.

Tomorrow get a new wired rust brush for my tool and than the last (right)fender and some body parts must be undone from the bondo. Thanks to my hard work that will be the last Bondo (4 ever!!!). on my lady.

Now busy with the quarterwindows etc.

I can't speak for every shop here, but that is not the norm for a true "professional" restoration. Like anywhere there are good shops, bad shops and a lot of "in-between".
I wouldn't want your one experience to reflect poorly amongst the entire USA Body work profession! When I had my Impala restored, I sought out a shop that focused on "no rust, no bondo, ever" as a philosophy for their approach to panel repair. It is costly for the proper work - which is surely why many people choose to compromise.
Of course the unscrupulous seek only to make the car look good as quickly, and for as little expense, as possible in order to flip the car and make good money.

We thought we had the solution...

Image[/img]

But it does not fit
changing strategy, stay tuned...

The drivebelt for the alternator etc is on and lines up okay

Image

Did some cleaning on several lightunits:

forgot to buy these rubbers, argh

used other lightsockets with the twistfitting. I got the old ones with the rubbers, but they don't last forever
sprayed the sockets black outside for in the trunk and silver inside for more reflecting of the light
also put some vaseline on the inside of the chrome rings etc, to prevend the water eating the metal

My Volkswagen came from the previous owner with the rust holes "fixed" by covering with duct tape, then covered the tape in bondo. Of course I got the car for cheap, so..

wiper cleaned, ordered new chrome rings at moss (for britishcarparts) a little birdy told me they would fit and mutch cheaper, i ordered also a backuplight, looks identic for only 18 pounds, just to use the glass... http://www.moss-europe.co.uk

The chrome rings for the wipers did not fit.
Backup light is different than the picture on internet (we keep it for the Fiat 600).
The rubber sleeves for the rear lights where useable.

wiper fluid box installed and wiper motor cleaned
the inner wiper fluid box, fitted when we used original tires, wheels and springs, but when we got the Panasport and the lowered springs those parts where hitting eachother

Image

Image

My husband was busy with the unlocking cable of the hood, picture later and we put the engine wiring on, we relocated and made some changes to the wiring and wiringbrackets
