I re-mounted the bits that were removed to fit the engine in.
The manifolds were a lot easier to do than I thought.



Fiddly but all done.

I bought a KBS kit to clean and seal the 43L fuel tank.

The tank doesn't have any issues as far as I know, but I thought it prudent to treat it before re-installing it.

Cleaning the gas tank is a smart move since you've done everything else already.
So while you wait, you'll just have to continue to satisfy yourself with "Vroom, Vroom, Vroom" noises!

Oh, Curtis, one of my garaging options is our National Motor Museum, located in my State.
I haven't inquired yet, but it may be possible to loan it to them when we have our inclement weather

Over the weekend installed new OEM Nissan stock leaf springs, acquired in some horse trading. They had a Rallye sticker on them looks like from the early - mid 90's. Walked back into the parts stash, figured I may as well start putting the stuff on cars instead of shelves. Installed KYB GR2 shocks to replace the original equipment "Datsun by KYB" shocks that were in there. Rear brake shoes were shot on one side, luckily I had a set in stock so did both rears.
Got one front spring and shock done, Mike Young Comps and KYB. Had a HELL of a time getting the original spring out. Comps are 1.5" shorter unloaded, so went in OK. Other side and front brakes and rotors this week. I'm going to try the method Sid wrote about, leave the ball joint and spindle assembled and unbolt the lower arm from the frame to get the spring out. I think the sway bar was part of the trouble, the arm wouldn't drop enough. Elbow/shoulder problems and a few herniated disks made this a WHOLE LOT of fun, but it will be worth it.

I'm curious how the car will sit, can't really do comp rear springs because we pull a trailer and tend to pack the trunk a bit and I like the rear up a little. New springs didn't seem to raise the rear much, but hard to tell until I hit some big bumps. I think new gas shocks will make the most difference.

My Wife refers to the car as "Our Datsun", so I suggested she take the wheels and polish them She finished up 2 of them, will do the other 2 while I'm doing brakes and stuff on the front. They look awesome. She keeps being amazed, something will be worn out or break, she asks what we will do about it, and I answer "I have those in stock", no problem. She is beginning to understand the value of Roadster Hoarding.

I found if I half-ass clean one and she sees it, it gets the ball rolling. Same works if I try to cook, some pathetic attempts, the threat of a big mess and she steps in, and in the end, I get food. All Bob's fault with the polished wheels, but they do look great clean.

Picked up my dash panel, glove box lid and centre console plate from the paint shop.
They have all been done the grey textured finish as per the original.


Made up a temporary exhaust system from 1.5" pipe.
It's long enough to dump just in front of the rear wheel.
Straight through of course, should sound a treat

Coated the inside of the wind screen channels and 1/4 window channels with fish oil to try and prevent any corrosion happening underneath the rubber seals.

I did however paint my 69 project this weekend. Another driveway job (number 3). Color is metallic beige (Datsun code 535) which is the factory color of this car. Sort of a rare color based on what I have seen at shows and pics but I like it. A few bugs, a little dust, the painter left a thumb print lifting the trunk lid...doh! - but all in all looks pretty good... Sue, the signifcant other says, "it's a 40 year old car, it shouldn't look perfect"

Trying to get it together for the Glen this year...going to be a longshot...since I have to install interior, rollbar, top, exterior trim and the rebuilt engine (Solex B cam)
