JCCS 2013
What's with the JCCS? The following are eligible to participate. 1991 Honda Civic, 1989 Honda Accord, Dodge Colt (a crummy car when new), Nissan 300zx. This show is being turned into a late 1990's used car lot. And motorcycles?? Should get back to the basics. If the show is sold out, some late registrations could be unable to attend, including some roadsters, Honda 600's, and Toyota 2000's. Instead we could see some used Hondas!
My 2 cents.

Re: JCCS 2013
register earlier?
It's a car show, one that has been wildly successful and given vintage japanese cars much deserved attention.
Cars you deem as "Crummy" are cherished by others.
I'd love to see EF-series Civics, etc. Our buddy mark(datsunrides) here has a Colt that he restored, and much like the myriad of "oddball" cars it's fun to see them at the show.
Personally I am not interested in motorcycles but in the last few years show goers love them!

Re: JCCS 2013
I wouldnt call the Colt crummy, but it was sold as the Japanese economy car competitor to the Ford Pinto. Hardly to be considered a "classic car".

So, another Japanese economy car like a Datsun 510 isn't a "classic car"?Howard R wrote:...it was sold as the Japanese economy car competitor to the Ford Pinto. Hardly to be considered a "classic car".
How about another Japanese economy car like the Toyota Corolla (E20)?

No, no. You are correct that neither is a classic. I dont think that the guy driving a 1975 Corolla thinks he's driving a classic. More than likely, he wishes he had a newer car!
Because it's old, doesnt make it a classic. It just makes it old.

I would drive this… And be pretty happy about it..

Edit: I might drop in an AC unit though.. I know that would destroy the vintage feel, but I am not as young as I used to be..

^hell yes RCMike!!!
I'd take that over a new Corolla anyday
@Robber Baron: maybe the "classic" in jCcs could be interpreted many ways, in your opinion what cars should be in the JCCS show?

Re: JCCS 2013
What the definition of a classic car is of course, up to the person defining it. Most classic car shows require the cars to be pre 1975 or pre 1972. Doesnt mean all cars produced prior to these dates are classics. I wonder what Hagerty insurance will insure as a classic? Here's one definition... If you get a thumbs up from passing cars or a big smile from pedestrians.

Re: JCCS 2013
Personally...I didn't mind the classic motorcycles as they didn't take up much space last year. At least they were vintage. The newer cars though, like from the 80's...I do have a problem with that. I can see those all day long just driving around. How often though do you see 310s, 311s, 411s and the old Datsun trucks. Pretty rare.
I will probably skip the JCCS based on the thread above. It is a shame Honda 600's, and Toyota 2000's would be left out because of a 1980 vehicle. JCCS should enforce restrictions. If the show didn't sellout on it's own with classics then let in a newer decade of cars in the last weeks of registration.

Re: JCCS 2013
I seriously doubt a Honda s600 or a Toyota 2000gt is going to miss the show.
If you read the original post, there is a lot of "if", "maybe" and "could" in it..

Re: JCCS 2013
I guess I think of all my Datsuns as classics, even my 72 1200, and so does Hagerty.
I also like the 70's Corolla and yes the Colts too. Not crazy about the late 80's & 90's
