NewB from Hemet

Post by awbovee »

Hi all from Hemet CA. I am new to the site. I bought my 67.5 SPL-311 in June 2012. I love my 'new' car. It is in good running order with 94,00 original miles. It has had a paint job and looks good but needs all the work that any 60's era car with near 100K miles would need. I look forward to participating in many Datsun events and meeting many of you.

I owned the same make/model/year/color from 1969 to 1973 while in the military and college in Northern California. I sold it in the San Jose area. I loved that car and would love to know if it is registered here. I don't know the VIN but I know that the CA license plate was UXA 196 in 1972. Is there a way to find the VIN with the license number??

Welcome. Great looking car.

There are some CA DMV sites for fees you can search to determine if the plate is active, but unfortunately you need the last 5 digits of the VIN. The only site I found where you don't need the VIN is to look up smog test history, which does not apply to our cars. Too bad you don't have old paperwork or an old under hood pic to help in your search.

Maybe you'll get lucky and someone on the forum will recognize the plate.

And another returns home... Welcome back wayward son! Great car. You will find this site to be the best bunch of car folks around! You've gone from being one of those guys who walks up and says "I remember having the best time ever in one of these cars..." to a proud owner ready to rekindle old memories while making new ones... Congratulations!

Unlike the old days, there is the great Internet, and there is a ton of info and support here... There's probably a few folks nearby that could give a refreasher course, or check the wiki!
