New 1968 1600 Roadster owner, Camarillo, CA

Post by algottlieb »

Hello fellow and gal roadster owners. My name is Al Gottlieb. I'm a 64 year old retired engineer living in Camarillo, Ca (Ventura County) with my wife Carol.
My first car was a red used 1966 1600 roadster when I was about 19. I just bought on eBay a 68 (SPL311-21968 engine R-65046, and I gave my update to the registry).
A recent picture of the blue car is now posted on the registry. I will try and add a picture of me with the car soon. The car is in pretty nice shape. It had a body off restoration about 30 years ago and has been living in WA state by the same owner until I bought it. It is in remarkably good condition and has no or very little rust so I believe the car was garaged and babied since its restoration.
My ultimate goal is to get a 1967-1/2 2000 roadster in very good to excellent condition. I know these are very rare and expensive.
I'm interested in meeting local roadster owners and would like to know of any recommendations for good roadster mechanics or helpful club members in the Ventura county area. I have joined SOCALROC.
Looking forward to meeting you in Solvang in April. I dropped by the Solvang event 2 or 3 years ago on my way to Santa Cruz and was very impressed with the turn out and the impressive cars.

Welcome. Come by the SuperCar Sunday car show in Woodland Hills and you will likely see 1 or more Roadsters. Congrats on your purchase.

Linda
Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.
