Not today but a few days ago... I made floor mats! Found an exact match to Dean's red carpet kit carpet on Ebay, and got a remnant big enough for both front mats ($12). Cut to fit and glued them to a vinyl carpet runner with nibs so they wont move around ($9 from local hardware store). Upholstery shop down the street sewed on the red vinyl edging ($15 for both)...

Spent the last few days freeing up both rear wheel cylinders, bleeding and servicing rear brake hardware. Test drive to find a barn.

Found my loose steering problem, loose bolt on the steering box. Tightened down real good with a lock washer.

Well, it was actually yesterday, but the Datsun got fired up for the first time in too many years! I was just going to drive it to the mailbox, but since the brakes actually worked also, I took a short drive. Good oil pressure. Temperature okay. EI working good. Headlights hi and low. No dash lights. Never checked tail or brake lights. Tires (circa 1978) held air. And speaking of air, how is it that driving a Roadster feels better than any other top down ride? The exhaust sounds and smells better! And when it got back to the garage, the beer tasted better!
I had actually tried to start it a few days earlier, but when the starter didn't turn over, I went in and ordered a gear reduction starter, but it won't arrive till next week. So I went out and started playing with a test light, and inadvertently touched the positive terminal on the solenoid while checking the lead from the ignition switch and the starter turned amid some sparks. It worked with the key a few times after that, but then needed some hammer persuasion- can't wait for the new starter. And new tires. And maybe some ZTherapy. And ...

Do you mean the adjustment screw on the top cover or something else?

The bolts that hold the steering box on the car! It made the entire box wiggle left and right instead of steering. Good to find!

No way... I'm convinced there is still a loose nut behind that steering wheel !

On a more serious note I put both rear view mirrors and wrote up a how to in the original thread with pictures. Too bad the weather has not been cooperating or I'd drive it more...
