Around-The-US Road Trip

Post by fish »

Hi all--

I'm currently about three weeks into an all-summer, around-the-US road trip in the Roadster. One of the other members here suggested that I share the blog address as some here might be interested in riding virtual shotgun with me.

It's at http://www.roadsterroadtrip.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Wish me luck!

Ha! How cool. We all enjoyed Ted and David's (wasn't that his name, visiting from the Netherlands?) Big Adventure to Solvang, the Grand Canyon etc, so this should be fun! Nine post and already a site supporter!

Greg:
It's Ted and Richard.
And if you are going to get it wrong, at least use Bill and Ted, as in Bill and Ted's excellent Adventure! :smt003

Welcome Scott! Great to see your trip, thanks for sharing.

Ahh yes, that's it! David didn't seem right, but I didn't have time to look it up... we should have just renamed Richard and made him Bill so my limited memory wouldn't cause problems!!!

Excellent!!! :smt003

Looks like you will be in Salt Lake City around the 24th. We should get together if you are staying in town.

Your route puts you in the area for Watkins Glen, week after labor day, I strongly recommend you attend, or we'll come find you!

Looks like a fun trip. Sorry we missed you as you came thru LA. You did seem to enjoy the Mulholland experience though. On your previous adventure to Nor Cal it was nice to remember Occidental where I lived once upon a time. Some great roads up around Sonoma, Calistoga etc and great food with the wine.
I'm sure your trip will inspire some owners to drive more as perhaps Ted and Richard did.
Interesting photos too. Thanks for sharing 8)

Thanks for the support--I will try to get the where/when dates updated; they're a bit off at the moment, plus I'm largely making it up as I go along. Would love to connect with any other roadster owners along the way, and I will see if I can get the Watkins Glen thing to work out, too. Currently in Big Pine, CA, en route to Mono Lake.

Perhaps you could google map your route as well!!

I did a r/t x-country trip (LA to DC) - all back roads in 07 - lotta fun.

I'm going to give the google map thing a shot, but it was limited in the number of waypoints that it'd draw a route between. I didn't even finish the route up the west coast before it said "too many waypoints". Maybe I'll try a "low res" version and just use the major cities as waypoints... At the moment, there's detailed route traces on the blog of at least where I've been; main menu under "maps".

If you get to Watkins Glen, dinner is on us, and you are pretty likely to get the long distance award, which will annoy Bob2
