SRL311-02403-Original Bob Sharp Racing Car

Post by S Allen »

I just added this to the registry. The fellow who now owns it swore it did not have a VIN# but I explained to him that they all had a VIN. After I told him where to find it on the frame and he scraped several layers of paint off he found the VIN. It has a 1600 motor in it so he never realized he had a 2 liter car. Any way-pretty cool that he has it. Thought I would share it with anyone who reads this.

Very cool! As I understand it, it was not uncommon for race teams to swap engines to get into different classes.

Very cool. Its always great to rediscover history, especially when it comes to important cars like this. I've heard of another car that has won many regional SCCA titles and set numerous track records with two different motors (Both 1600 and 2000)

Now the question is, where is the U20 for the car? That would be epic to find. Still, now that the car has been identified, it will be interesting to see what other history on the car can be found now that the face has a name (figuratively speaking)

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

Awesome Paul! Guess you've got to get ahold of Sharp to see if you can get story.
So who knows the history of the Mike Unger ex Dick Tillinger car? I thought that was a early BSR 2000.
