1600 stroker kit

Post by toadster »

Can anyone tell me what exactly is in a stroker kit and do they really beef up the MPH like I've recently heard! ( I heard that they will out perform a 2 litre with a solex set up.)
Thanks Everyone!

No an R16 stroker will not come close to a stock U20 solex setup. It will get close to a U20 with SUs but not the solex. The guy who won best of show at Solvang 2 years ago had a moster stroker engine (compression ratio above 11:1 if I remember correctly) however the dyno results were showing about 110 at the wheels, and it was very peaky. It sounded great however. A stroked R16 is like an H20. Basicly it uses the r16 head and block but a U20 or H20 crank with u20 rods and pistons. It is still a pushrod engine. For more info, check out Steve's purple car, he has a good write up on the engine.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

Dave,

Here is my write-up http://www.311s.org/tech/engine/stroker.html

And...the way Scott Lindley did his

My brother actually just finished his stroker as well.

Just goes to show there is more than one way to approach a project. 8)
