Greetings from SO CA
Just to introduce myself to the 311 Datsun club. My name is Ron Bradley and I own Zclocks.com which I started 10 years ago converting 240z-280Zx clocks to quartz units. I've had a 75 280z since 79 and finally, after 15years, completed a frame up resto, whew!!
During this process I started Zclocks because there wasn't anyone repairing or upgrading the Datsun clocks. I do have several friends that are roadster owners who have been urging me to branch out to the roadster community and produce quartz conversions. I currently have engineered and completed just such a clock. Please see my web site , zclocks.com, for photos and pricing.
One of your 311 club members is the first recipient of my first roadster conversion (68-70) which turned out very nice. I'm still gathering data on the roadster maina and will be posting it on my web site (zclocks.com)as soon as it's completed.
Shoot me an e-mail at, ron@zclocks, and let me know what you think and how I can do to help. Also, I had a friend in High school that had a silver 2000 roadster which was very cool for the time.

Looks great - re cores - what about the rubber gaskets - they tend to disintegrate almost immediately on removal - can you replace ??

Hey Ron, welcome and if you do get enough interest in the roadster clock rebuild we can add you as a vendor. Question-any idea on costs yet or are you not familiar enough with the difference between the low and high windshield roadsters yet? I am sure I will not be the only one curious. Accurate time with a roadster clock is the quite the novelty. For that matter even having a working clock is quite rare. Good luck.

I'd be interested if you ever do the early model......

Not sure how to navigate this web site but yes, I can replace the gasket between the lens and the light deflector.

Also, hope I can be listed as a vendor. I haven't had an early roadster clock(65-67) in my hot hands but will accept the challenge to make one work. Are you offering up your clock as an engineering model?
Thanks...Ron

Re: Greetings from SO CA
I went throught this same process with the 240Z folks and I'm the only one who is successful with converting clocks and making them work. The 240 owners manual states, and I quote: "For clock accuracy set clock daily".
My comment is: YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING!!!!
The OEM mechanism in the 240 is the same in the 68-70 roadsters. Not sure in the earlier models but would like to find out. Anyone willing to offer up a clock??

Re: Greetings from SO CA
Ron,
Good luck with your venture.
Have to look at my roadster manuals to see if the same 'advice' was given to us as well.
As recently written up in a concours where roadsters attended - GOOD judges note the time on the clock at the start of the judging and at the end.
On a lighter note - at a past Pebble Beach Concours - the judges noted that on a 'check book' restoration the clock wasn't working. The 'owner' was given some extra time to prove that it did. Frantic scouring of the attendees for his restoration guy was unfortunately not timely enough. When he complained that for all the money he had spent that the clock wasn't working - the response he got was 'Why didn't you WIND the bloody thing?'

Re: Greetings from SO CA
I can dig through my pile 'o parts and find you an early clock 65-67. The 67.5 is possibly different. I can compare to see or Sid may know the answer straight away.
or someone else with more knowledge regarding that than me.

67.5 is only different in that it has a black ring instead of chrome.

The adjusting knob is different on the 67.5 as well - not chromed like the early ones!

Re: Greetings from SO CA
zclocks, you should come to SuperCar Sunday in Woodland Hills this Sunday.
You'll meet Roadster owners and Z owners all in one shot. We're having a larger-than-usual meet up this week.
I want one. Mine has never worked. Can the clock in a '69 be removed without taking apart the dash?
