Additional Hood Release

I took several peoples recommendation and I drilled a hole on the inside fender-well above the driver's side kickplate. I then ran a straight-line hood release cable up through the 'holes' at the top of the three pedal assemblies and out the original engine bay hole (with rubber grommet) then to the hood release assembly. Pulls nice and smooth and opens the hood with very little effort. Now I hope I never need to use it. It is out of the way and doesn't ruin the astetic look of the interior. From a safety standpoint I didn't think it was any less safe than someone just reaching into the car and pulling the original hood release, in fact, most people probably wouldn't think to look way up behind the antenna mount any way. I did seal the exterior mount also with silicon. For those of you that might ask about mud and road grim getting into it, I wrapped the handle and exterior pull assembly in plastic and duct tape. On a side note, this car spends virutually no time in the rain and is rarely ever driven when the roads are wet or muddy. I am open to any additional suggestions however. For those of you that offered advice, thanks. Now onto the trunk release.

rear trunk release

this one is pretty simple.
attach some thin wire rope (picture hanging kit from HomeDepot) to the trunk release, thread it down thru a hole in the trunk right below the latch on the inside to right behind the bumper on the outside. make a loop. Now, if your key switch gets finicky (more like 'when' than 'if') you can use the remote release. I did the same on the front, but led it horizontal to a hood bump stop near the brake master. If my hood release breaks, I just have to fish the wire out from under the edge.

I could take some pictures, but I am not sure how much you could see from them. The black hood release cable runs up under the dash, almost parrallel to the interior/engine bay wall, along with the other cables and wiring making it difficult to distinguish. It comes out through the same hole/rubber grommet as the existing hood release cable. The handle sticks out in the fender-well up by the antenna, again I am not sure how much I can truly photograph other than the handle sticking out. If someone wants a shot of that it might look alright. I'll have to email Steve the photo and he can post it. Regarding the trunk release, I have heard of several options including the ones listed above. I have also heard of drilling a hole behind the license plate and adding a pull wire there along with a floor plug cover. Less chance of getting water or anything else into the trunk this way. Whatever I finally attempt I will try and take photos. These should allow for better viewing then the hood release does.

I'll take some pics of my trunk release this weekend, I think it's funy because I don't think I've ever used the key.
