I'm lucky, I have no rust except for some surface rust that sanded off easily. The body work is not perfect, but at this point I don't care. I'm not ready for a bare metal restoration, I just want to get back to driving the damn thing. I'm gonna prime and assemble. Roadworthy and one color (even if primer grey) is the goal.
That's why I was asking about side trim....nudge, nudge Sid.

I got a new windshield for my 70 1600 for Christmas last from pro source. Old windshield was cracked from top to bottom. Using info on tech wiki I finally installed the windshield this weekend. Mega improvement. I think I'll drive it to work tomorrow. I know what Ross was talking about when he mentioned getting sore fingers messing with that stainless trim. On the road again.

Damn! Another local guy! cool! Coming from LA where there seems to be a roadster on every street corner to Norcal, where all there seems to be is pickup trucks, it's nice to know there are a few roadster guys.
What you got going on?

Replaced the thermostrate spacer on my 69 U20. It had developed a pin hole like through the alumimum casting that squirted coolant up onto the inner surface of the hood. Interestingly the inner surface of the spacer block was cratered with pock marks, one that actually made it through the casting thickness. Craters must be from lack of proper corrosion protection some time in the past 44 years, I assume as there was no rust in the antifreeze or on the inner surfaces of the housing. So now she's got a new to me spacer (thanks eBay) new thermostat, temp sender, and associated gaskets along with a nice polish on the aluminum outer surfaces.

What a bitch getting the old part off...had to resort to the BMFH

I hope you used a lot of anti-sieze on the studs when you reinstalled the thermostat tower. It will make the next removal much easier.

Put my drive pics in the wrong thread.
Can the moderators move it to the "Where did you drive today" thread?
Thanks, Ted.
