Thanks Dave for organizing the 2nd annual Datsun Matsuri. We had some minor rain drops, 14 roadster, and about 14 or so 510/240/260/280z cars.

Many people went out for dinner afterwards, and it was a great time to connect to new friends, reconnect to others, and drool at the results of others great time and effort into their cars. Can't wait to see more photos Ted and others!

Still on the road, taking the 'fun' way back home which entails an extra day... already had a couple of adventures...

Great event and first roadster event I've attended with my roadster! We've passed the hat around for the 2014 event, thanks to Arnold for starting with a generous donation... We will be bigger and better yet! I'll upload pics when I get home.

Cheers,
Rob

Hope everyone had a great time at the event, and a safe trip. I was unable to attend this year, and said that i would make a donation towards next years show.
Next year the plan is to maybe leaving a few days early.Go to Ross's shop. Then make the drive with the BC gang back to the show.Just an Idea.
Hopefully SRL 00057 will be completed for the show. Paint and polish is all done.

GREAT 2nd annual Datsun Matsuri Show.
14 Roadsters ( a new record). 3 510s and 11 Zs (Zeds?, you have to speak Canadian!).
The Foreigners from the south were represented by Bill and Karen Neal and Ted.
Weather was OK. Mostly cloudy and cool with spits of rain, but nothing to cause the erection of tops.
Best Modifed Roadster award to Mitch, Best Stock Roadster award to Ted
and Best of Show to Dave from Calgary with SRL311 #50.
Kelowna did not seem as crowded this year for the 3 day holiday (one of those quaint foreign events,
Queens day? or some such occasion.)
Nice dinner at a nearby restaurant after the show.
A few of us attended the Peachland World of Wheels car show on the way home.
THANKS to Dave for organizing the show and the 3rd annual show in 2014!

Ted.

Yes, I would like to know as well! LOL. I was planning on eventually painting my car red, but I'm kind of grooving on that green!

Thanks for a great show again Dave and Carolynn. Great talking to everyone, new and old. Surprised that we had an attendee from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan!! (240Z w/RB25 turbo)
Bea and I hiked up Knox Mountain to check out the cars at the top while they wait to come back down at the end of the heat, and see them racing through different corners sections of the track. just before we got to the top tho, a car went off track and caught fire, so the racing was delayed by 1 - 1 1/2 hours while they put the fire out, cut the driver out of the car, and cleaned up the mess. Driver only had minor injuries apparently.

Friday started off ugly with rain and bumper to bumper traffic from Vancouver to Chilliwack, where the traffic got thinner and the rain got heavier, and it rained almost all the way to Kelowna.
Had one big hill where the car was on the edge of overheating (200*+) so I pulled over to check things over and let it cool. Found nothing so attributed it to likely lean fuel mixture and took it a little easier the rest of the trip up. Did a little fine tuning with the computer on Sat. to get a good idle, then on the road again for bit Sunday with the computer and no problems on the way down.
Saw Ted's car parked on the side of the road in Peachland with a couple of people looking it over as we passed thru.....
Looking forward to some of those pictures in Peachland, Ted.......

Oh, yes, by the way, DON'T call Garth's car 'Kermit'! He don't like that.....It's 'Margarita'......sissy name....I like Kermit better...

Peachland "World of Wheels" car show on May 19, 2013.

The Datsun Matsuri folks did not enter this show but a few of us attended as spectators.
Some pictures of cars back when Grilles were beautiful and Boats were made of wood.

Hey everyone,

Here is the link to the summary of the event. http://wp.me/p2etBx-Iz" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Includes show winners and photos of every car.

Special thank you to Arnold and everyone for donating seed money to ensure the 2014 event gets off to a flying start.

If there are any of you in the area (within about a 14 hour drive) you should make plans to attend next year. It is always on the same weekend (the Victoria Day weekend in Canada) which is the weekend prior to Memorial Day weekend in the US.

See you soon.

I am pretty sure it was my cute kids that put me over the top for the best in show. Thanks to Dave and Carolyn for their efforts and thanks to all who attended for embodying the spirit - "It takes a community to raise a child!" It was great to see the camaraderie and general sense of community that the show brings together, a reminder of what a great bunch of people Datsun owners are. Our girls loved playing with all their new Uncles and Aunts... particularly Uncle Ross and Grampa Ted... And, the cars were nice too.

The drive home was beautiful - but the roof went up 20 minutes out of Calgary as the sky opened up. Sorry Dave. I am a hypocrite. Hope you made it home with the roof down all the way.
