1969 311 keys
So I took all of the matching locks off my parts car for my fixer roadster. The door locks, trunk lock and center console lock all have matching numbers and the ignition doesn't seem to be stamped but I hope the key is the same for the 1969 1600. The problem is, I don't have any keys. The stamps are 8700 series with no letter in front of them. Where can I get keys made? Can I just send in the 4 digit number and have keys made? Is this something a local shop is able to do? Is there a reasonable on-line store that can do this? As with the rest of you, I'm trying to save money so don't want to overpay for such a thing. I will likely have some parts to list from my parts car in the near future. Thanks in advance for any recommendations. I live in the Sacramento area.

I need a second set of keys and was thinking of using this service:

Re: 1969 311 keys
Unless I am mistaken, the 69 had a different key for the ignition. The 4 digit number is all you need to get your key cut. Any old school locksmith can cut the keys from the code.

69 and 70 both have WASO ignition . It takes a DA 20 key blank, some Mazda's also use this blank.
69 door locks D79 That's a Taylor number.
70 door locks DA14 That's a Curtis number.
you should able to cross this to different bands of keys.
Hope this helps.

Should be a Taylor D72
My early 68 SRL 01008 Solex takes a D72 for the ignition doors and trunk.

Re: 1969 311 keys
I am afraid that Arnold is simplifying things a bit. Here is the page out of the parts book which breaks down changes from year to year. I do have a selection of keys but the Washington boys on april 20th, scooped up all my original Nissan blanks. There are many key blanks and they have a mutitude of profiles.

Howdy. My 1969 Datsun 2000 door key has stamped 7824 L on it. Is that the series #?

Re: 1969 311 keys
I used keys4classics when I got my '69 that was delivered minus the keys... (had them when I made the deal!). I pulled the lock cylinder for the trunk and emailed him a photo of the # on the cylinder. It took a few weeks because everything is postal ground (from AU!) but they worked perfect when they arrived.Solex68 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2013 9:01 pm I need a second set of keys and was thinking of using this service:
